The Udet lifebuoys were not intended for direct combat operations, but rather to rescue the pilots engaged in those operations and, after their evacuation, to enable them to continue those operations.
During raids on England, the German navy operated a search-and-rescue service using motorboats and seaplanes to assist German pilots shot down over the English Channel. However, with the onset of winter, the survival time for a downed German pilot in the icy water was significantly reduced.
One of Germany’s most famous World War I aces, Ernst Udet, proposed creating buoys to be installed in the strait. Udet reasoned that the crews of downed aircraft would be able to swim to the buoy on their own or at least try to fly as close to it as possible before crashing. These buoys proved to be a highly effective solution.

Ashes of Empire has been updated.
https://www.mediafire.com/file/i89x87o9 ... 1.rar/file
This is the final update for this campaign. The update contains mainly prestige adjustments between scenarios, higher start prestige and stronger auxiliary units in the scenario Sakarya Line.
.
Development Update.
.
The alpha versions of Campagna d'Abissinia and Avanti per la Vittoria are ready. Soon i will commence testing. The campaign may still have missing balance (prestige/turns), rough briefings, placeholder graphics, unfinished triggers, or bugs that need to be adressed. Bond had a swing at playtesting and i was surprised that nothing critical has come up.

Lovely! As for it being a bit rough around the edges, that’s hardly surprising, as you’re a seasoned and experienced craftsman who’s been delighting us with your superb work for years now, so it’s all fine! But, as there are sometimes overshoots, that’s exactly why we have tests and fine-tuning!

I have begun testing Campagna d’Abissinia. As soon as I am done testing and tweaking it, I will make it available.
Inevitably, a new version of the equipment file will also become available.

So when are we heading to Latin America to take part in the Chaco War?
In many respects, by the standards of the time, the Chaco War was a modern war. The Bolivian Army used Vickers light tanks, while the Paraguayan Army made extensive use of Stokes-Brandt mortars. By the end of the war, both sides had begun to widely employ flanking maneuvers and encirclements in battle, supported by mortar and machine-gun fire. Both sides relied on motorized transport to move troops. Aerial reconnaissance became an integral part of the war. Both sides established extremely effective systems for evacuating the wounded and sick from the front lines by air, thereby saving the lives of thousands of soldiers. Both sides made extensive use of radio communications. The Paraguayans used the Guaraní language—which was very widespread in Paraguay but unknown to the Bolivians—as a sort of “code” when communicating by radio.

Avanti per la Vittoria is now available.

v1.0 (28/06/26): https://www.mediafire.com/file/ajpobkbj ... 0.rar/file
(Nikivdd equipment file v12 and v12.1 add-on required!)

The campaign can be played using either the preset core army or your saved core army from **Campagna d'Abissinia**.

As has become tradition, all briefings and in-game messages are available in English, French, German, and Russian.

To play **Avanti per la Vittoria**, I have also released a small update for the equipment file. If you have already downloaded **Version 12**, you only need to download the add-on. The add-on has not yet been incorporated into the main Version 12 package. It contains three new units which are essential for the campaign (He 111B, Bf 109C/D) and also includes a fresh bunch of big unit pictures.

I was having so much fun crushing the Red Spaniards with my Italians and Franks that I forgot to switch the game to Russian! Great units and storyline, Nico. I've attached some screenshots and a replay.

Wonderful. I'm currently slowly slogging through Guadalajara (with all this mud, slogging is the most you can do). As I will be very mobile for the next week or so (unlike the Italians, I am currently touring a very dry and hot Southern Europe :) ), I'm sure bond will be faster in rattling through the scenarios, but I will post here my thoughts as I am finally getting though each of them.

As always, thanks for the great work.
