I am going to let this poll run until next Sunday (March 24th), but I think we have got a pretty good idea now of how players feel. Normally in these sorts of polls we get around 30 players participating and we probably have got that already. Players have 2 votes and it is likely that 6 players have voted for both options 1 and 4 and maybe a few have voted for both 2 and 3. We seem to be split right down the middle with 17 not wishing to see a change and 16 in favour of some sort of trial. I think the 17 is a "harder" number because, as I say, some players may have voted for both option 2 and option 3. I also think the vote for option 4 is quite significant as it suggests around one-sixth of players would stop playing in the FOG2DL if larger armies were brought in across the board.
I think the most we can probably do, provided the trial is completed OK, is have one section each season with 1600pt armies. And we can rotate the larger armies through the sections as we proceed in subsequent seasons. Players who do not want to use the larger format will still have plenty of other options to choose from, because eventually we will have 6 sections in the tournament when the first medieval DLC is released.

A very tough close game this one. The Romans were in a good defensive position and their heavy infantry put up one hell of a fight! That's my last game so thank you to all my worthy opponents.

With his close victory over Trogilus today (his eighth victory in total), youngr has won Late Antiquity Division B with his Jewish Revolt army. Well played Richard!

And the Zealot mob claims another crown. Can't think of an army more dominant other than the Carthaginians.

Division A
Triarii - Arab (Bedouin) 300-636 AD beats GDod - Hepthalite 350-570 AD score 41-15.
Despite some intimidating poetry and alliteration the Arab horse took advantage of another open map to avoid the hepthalite hephalumps and cause distraction, disorder and dismay.

Pete do you think there is any significance in the number of players wanting to trial a larger army, not taking into account the specific army size, is currently 21 against 19 that want no change? If the question had been different and not specified 1600 or 2000 point armies you could say the majority would like a trial

Yes, that's what I am saying. The vote is roughly 50-50 so that is enough to have a trial in one section next season (Season 5), but I think the current numbers mean that larger armies will not be rolled out right across the tournament in Season 6 even if the trial is successful (I expect it will work out just fine). There isn't the support for doing that so it is likely that, from Season 6 onwards, just one section each season will offer players the chance to use the larger 1600 pt armies.

No, full marks for picking the best army. Even then it is not trivial. I remember when pbuck opened my eyes to this list during the KO tournament. I was reviewing the list before the game started and I was like.....51 point Legionaries...lol.
