I couldnt find anywhere else to post this so am doing so here.

Firstly I will state that XLegione is a damned good player and i cannot fault him in any way

However I was unable to find any resource on the forums at all about his army choice and that gave me a hell of a disadvantage before the battle even started (I do not own the appropriate DLC).

That coupled with the most appalling pair of RNG results in the first proper round of melee meant that there was no point in continuing.

Apologies to XLegione for cutting the game short BUT I do not enjoy taking a beating like that in those circumstances.

Good luck to all surviving players

Don't worry mate, you have been unlucky in some melee, sometimes happens.
I realised that you are a skilled player, I hope to meet you again in the battlefield, I'm sure you will do better ;-)

Ciao

XLegione

Round 1

Karvon (Arab Conquest 629-637 AD) defeated Barrold713 (Ghaznavid 962-1187 AD with Turkish 600-1036 AD allies) 47 - 17.

Ghaznavids deployed massed horse archers on their left with a hinge of elephants between their infantry on their right. Our archers routed their elephants. Part of our spear line wheeled and drove the horse archers away in disarray. The rest of our foot destroyed the opposing infantry. Our lancers exploited and pursued.

1st Round

oscarius (Frankish 751-887 AD) beat Tresantes (Phyrric 280-275 BC): 53 - 25

A hill and more than a little good luck allowed my shieldwalls and dismounted lancers to survive the Phyrric mass pike assault for long enough to flank them. A well-played game by my opponent whose strategy and composition was solid but the virtual dice more in my favour.

1st round
klayeckles (indo-greek+indian) defeats Chema_Cagi (ghazenavid) 40-7
Ghazenavid cavalry was blunted and turned away by an indian missile ambush leaving the foot to fight alone against the greek phalanx.

Round 1

herm (samnites) defeats garymann (ghaznavids) 53-17

After a moment of observation the matter was settled by a frontal shock between the elephants and the Gallic infantry.
One of the elephants pierced my line but went in pursuit. After 3 or 4 rounds the other three elephants decided it was better to come back another day.
The ghaznavid light cavalry had fled the previous turn in front of the Gallic chariots and some skirmishers.

The gallics saved many samnites lives today. Thanks to my opponent.
