Geffalrus (Athenians) defeats MikeMUC (Persians) 41-13. Good game to my opponent.

A long line of Armored Hoplites marched across perfectly flat terrain, weathered the storm of arrows, and then smashed into the Persian Sparabara like a ton of bricks. The army geographers earned their pay that day for finding that battle site. Even the most pessimistic soothsayer would have been hard pressed to deny the obvious suitability of the ground for my army.

My limitanei fought well above their point costs...and some (unexpected rain..soggy ground??) helped fend off the cavalry charges time and again -The dice were very kind to me on this one.

Geffalrus (Athenians) defeated gamercb (Thracians) 53-4. Good game to my opponent.

Thracian mobility was limited due to the coastline taking up about a quarter of the field. The two armies eventually clashed along a shallow stream after the Athenians drove back the Thracian light horse and peltasts. In the grueling face to face melee, the armor advantage and dense formation of the Athenian armored hoplites ultimately won the day.

Geffalrus (Athenians) defeats Barrold713 (Babylonians) 42-3. Good game to my opponent.

Next to feel the wrath of the armored hoplite were the Babylonians. Raw hoplites marched out to the flanks to neutralize the cavalry by standing in front of them and hurling insults, while the main line marched through the usual cloud of arrows before giving the offending massed archers a big ole hug. Two units of sturdy royal guard gave the Athenian hoplites a bunch of bloody noses, but they were eventually overwhelmed by the armored avengers once the hoplites got done murdering their friends.

Things are going well so far, but on the horizon are a few army lists with their own hoplites that might cause problems..........

Geffalrus (Athenians) defeats greekiraklis (Egyptians) 43-5. Good game to my opponent.

Athenian armored hoplites vs Egyptian armored hoplites + a dozen other unit types. The Egyptians advanced with weighted wings of massed archers, chariots, and spears while the center was held by chariots and armored hoplites. Rather than be surrounded, shot up, and flanked, the Athenians did an abrupt oblique to engage the advanced right wing ASAP. Once again, massed archers were crushed by metal clad Greek men, who then turned on the now isolated Egyptian heavy infantry.

One hoplite army down, three more to go..........
