The little known second Norman invasion of England did not go as well as the first. Open ground in the centre was flanked by woods and difficult hills on both sides. Normans engaged in an early skirmish on the right with light troops and were seen off by Anglo-Norman lights and massed archers. Anglo-Normans advanced down both flanks with Welsh spearmen and archers while their Knights and heavy infantry moved down the centre. The Normans had more heavy troops and were able to defeat the Anglo-Normans in the centre. Welsh spearmen on the Norman right were held up in the woods by Norman medium troops and a stalemate ensued. Welsh spears on Norman left could move right through the rough terrain and defeat the Norman rear guard of 2 defensive spearmen. The victorious Norman centre could not engage the Anglo-Normans occupying the hill on the right and by the time some units had moved to engage the Anglo-Norman units to their rear the Anglo-Normans skillfully used the terrain to blunt this attack and await nightfall. A very tough match I thought I was going to lose until the last two turns. Both armies ended up stretched wide across the battlefield with his heavy chariots harrying my right while his infantry massed up against my left. My light foot and massed archers gradually wore the chariots down while my infantry held out long enough to score the victory. Extremely close game where pretty much every unit was disrupted or fragmented by the end. My victory was down more to rallies and some lucky rolls than any great skill on my end. Well-played!

With only 6 games remaining we have got a top 3, just not the order. Eric still leads with Tabai doing excellent to get within 15pts of a very good total. Nosy_Rat can finish top if he continues with current form or even suffers a minor defeat. Zawzgrzyt has 4 games left with time running out so hopefully this league is not decided by an unfinished match. Best of the rest is Questar17 who looks safe in 4th.
