I will finish the games I have at this point...after that...have not made up my mind yet. If I do continue, do not have the time to put in as BIG commander, just BG commander.

Thanks Morge4, I'm sure Jon will appreciate it.
Still no takers on Axis command?

I could consider doing it if there are no other takers. Waiting to see what Random says, or for a miracle to occur.

Thanks jcb989...I know it's a jump from the other side...but I don't think the Allies have anymore aces up their sleeves that you would be privy to.
Out of curiosity how does Random affect the decision?

Guys ... I'm not sure what's totally involved ... since I don't have a BG on the Allies side yet ... I could switch my alliances and take on the Axis Command. Kind of would like to know a little more about the job.
If someone else (like Random) wants it more ... go for it.

Hey guys,
From what I've read in the first GJS and from what I experienced so far I believe that if no campaign reaches an end, then a third restart would simply lead to a similar outcome.
All the debates that appeared are around the rules that are still a work in progress. Until the rulebook is complete in a sense that it'll have solutions for general scenarios but also stranger tactical situations that can lead to disagreements, such discussions will be part of the game no matter what GJS edition we'd be looking at. The only way to have an ultimate edition of the rules is to fight the battles to the end, as I'm pretty sure some difficult/unexpected situations will still appear in future days.
It's unfortunate that the German side is losing so many players, and personally don't know anyone that would like to play, or get involved in the war after it has started. I wouldn't want to switch sides considering how well I know the Allied side and how much things I know about it. However, if you guys think it's best I'll be happy to move starting with June 9 as previously said, but not in a General position. That spot should go to a member of the team.
As for the new rule additions, I don't generally have any objections, in fact some of them are needed 7.55 through 7.58 (I have actually posted a sort of how-to raise issues with maps/units/flags inside the team earlier today on the Allied forum so we won't run into today's sort of problems again). Although for future editions, rules like 7.4 through 7.43 shouldn't be changed mid-battle/day to make up for any map errors. Also rules should either be included at the beginning of the campaign, or voted on during it. But yes, this is a hobby, we all have lives and under these circumstances is more than appreciated that GMs are at their posts even on vacation

, and I understand why they have to be enforced right away.

Thanks Mowby1, the Axis would be well served with such a solid player. And not being assigned a role yet, it would be ideal to move over now.
Basically, the command would coordinate strategic orders and issue them to the GM (ie. the moves on the strategic map for the day). That's really about it I think?
You can also coordinate your side for different battles if you're really into it. Of course, any rule issues go through you but I hope we have exhausted the possibilities there (in fact, you might be coming in at a good time! LOL!).
Your the best candidate for the top spot...let us know what you decide.

Thanks KingT, and your concern is noted. Ideally we can opt for a rule change delay in the future but as you point out, the circumstance is a little different on this occasion.

Okay, I'll do it ... I'll get things going for the Axis tonight so we are ready for tomorrow.
Any issues?

And is there a separate Axis Command topic already for daily orders, etc?

Yes, much like the Allies forum in the tournament threads, Jon will have to add you to that list.
The first command decision you'll need to make is who is fighting the replacement battle at Caen. No rush though, take your time to get familiar with the situation and talk with your team. Jon still needs to fix the battle setup.
Good luck

Mac you have access to the Axis thread, cannot you authorise?
I would have done it myself, but as as my access has now been curtailed (as I requested), no can do.
Clearly as an outsider, not good form if the joint GM denies Axis thread access to the new Axis overall commander!

Hey Mowby!
Guten Abend and Willkommen to the Axis.
I've just
signed you up to the German private forum, so if you click into the forum area for Battle Academy Tournaments & Leagues, you should now see Axis Side - GJS44. It's a dedicated space for you & your team, so feel free to say or ask anything you like.
Pip & I have access as thread managers (so we can quickly add/delete folks) but we try not to look (Pip's too busy and I prefer to be surprised, to keep my GM'ing neutral). Mac can also access, and observes very occasionally I believe.
Everything you need can be accessed from the first post in this thread ->
viewtopic.php?f=87&t=38844#p363505
From there, you'll always find...
1. Team members and their timezones (I've got you down as GMT-6 right?)
2. The latest
Strategic Campaign Map
3. "Aerial recons" (rough guide overviews for brand new battle maps)
4. Updated
Order of Battle for both teams
5.
Latest Orders for both teams
6. How to download the latest maps (although I see you have no problem there!

)
7. Current
Rules & Regs (started pretty basic, but for better or worse, have evolved to cover most eventualities now)
What's your email address? I'll send you a private email so you've got mine. Feel free to ask anything you like at any time.
First up, I'd suggest you
get to know each of your team mates' styles of play, their strengths and weaknesses. Battle maps for the campaign vary dramatically. There's beaches, cities, rivers, woods, hedgerow, you name it. Some require full on assaults, some sneaky flank attacks, some stubborn defences, some hidden retreats while holding onto a single flag... You're going to have fun.
Playerwise, the
Allied side would admit that with KingT, Random, Jcb & Iprop, they're strong both strategically and tactically... as the seemingly inexorable results, so far, underscore...
I'll update the Caen map and repost it, so whoever you assign (or you personally?) can play whenever you're ready. It's been a topsy turvy 48 hours for everyone, so we're all
happy to wait for you to get comfortable inside your Panther...
Good luck Herr Feldmarschall (as the Fuhrer recently said to Friedrich Wilhelm Ernst

).

As requested, the supply levels are now on the strategic map indicated by a small white box with an oil drip and a number, the number indicates how many days of supply the BG has left.
