Hi Guille and T2_2112,

i experimented a little bit with wire mesh and GIMP and the solution could be to take the mesh from a high resolution picture, downscale it and then play with transparency. Stay tuned...

Greetings!

I think a PzIV icon with wire mesh schurzen could be made to represent, for example, the Pz IV J and to differentiate it from the Pz IV H model (which is drawn with steel plate schurzen)... I think they share the same icon in the stock game equipment. Adding an anti-aircraft machine gun can be another deatil to make those two units icons more different between them... Some drawings as an example. I am sure Asuser will do (when he can) an excellent work!
Thank guys for the support! :-)

Mainly to take a break from so many armored vehicles, I re-started a very old project in my "to do" list... An icon I had founs some a lot of time ago of the B-36 heavy inter-continental bomber... I liked very much the natural metal finish that its author gave to it, it is very well done indeed. Unfortunately, I don't remember who was the original author of this icon.
So, after giving it some retouching, I made also a base icon and mask for it, in order to be used by the DCS software. I hope you find it a good unit...

Cheers!

PS: Re-uploaded the icons and mask, with improved insignia. :-)

As there was a request for a Pak armed bunker, I adapted a project that I had in the making. The icon is based on an old one from Pacific General, to which, conveniently, a gun barrel was added protruding from its front... :-)

As the bunker icon will not change its facing while deplyed on the game map, there are two versions of it: facing west and east... Also there are a camuflaged, a desert colored and a grey version of the said unit, and base icon and mask are included, as always.

Enjoy!

Some infantry icons, for a change... here are some variants of a icon showing a Panzerfaust team, in some different styles and camo schemes.
The little model for the Panzerfaust weapon was made by Asuser... And the uniforms for the SS icon was derived from some icon made by Anfield.
I hope you find them useful!

Greetings to all!

Nikivdd: Thanks for the nice words! And also thanks for sharing your super-great mod work with the community here!

Do not hesitate to ask for "that" unit icon you may need for some future project! We will try to give you only the best! 8)

Here is a special unit... Made in answer to a request by Uhu, for his Hungarian campaign... The Tas 44 Rohamloveg self-propelled At gun...
An original work made by me, with Uhu giving the final and necessary final detailing to make it look good.

This unit was in project by the hungarians but it had to be scrapped because of the Allied bombings to the factory where it was being built. Only the lower hull was assembled when the project was terminated. It was, approximately, an equivalent to the Jagdpanther, with the same 88 mm gun, lower profie and thicker frontal armour. In the minus side, it had less horsepower installed (making it a slower vehicle) and, as it was smaller, I think it would have had less ammo storage capacity.

Uhu gave us the following values for this unit:

- PC game stats: almost the same as the Jagdpanther, only MOVE: 5, DEF: 21 (and I assume it would be safe to give 1 or 2 less ammo points).

Tas 44 Rohamloveg SPAT project specifications:
(In brackets: Jagdpanther statistics for comparison)

Crew: 5 (5)
Weight: 38 tons (45,5)
Lenght: 9,5 meters (9,87)
Width: 3,9 meters (3,8)
Height: 2,3 meters (2,72)
Engine: 2x Turán, 520hp in total (HL230, 700hp)

Armor
Frontal: 120mm (80)
Sides: 50mm (50)
Armament: 88mm PaK 43 (the same)
Speed: 45km/h (55km/h)

Enjoy!

An "out of the blue" unit... The 2 pdr. Portee self-propelled gun... Just improved a little the icon, added insignia, and made tha base icon and mask for the DCS... Also, I added a unit captured by the Germans. I hope you like it!

Kool... I can use the Portee for the little Tom attachment. I think that's what it was called.

A attachment that increased muzzle velocity and penetration.

That's why the 2 lbr was used until the end of the war.

A very effective weapon with that attachment.

 My apologies for being Mr. Knowitall, but it might save you some search time: it was called the Littlejohn adaptor.

Welcome back, BTW.

Yes, no doubt Razz was refering to it! Now, we only need to make the gun barrel three pixels longer, more or less... :-)

There was a special request of T2_2112 for wire mesh skirts, now comes the first prototype of the special schürzen (called Thoma Shields) for the Panzer IV H. For the vanilla image, I first removed the normal plates and then draw the layout of the Thoma shields as a base. Then I have made the mesh pixel by pixel and gave some color. For customizing I changed the transparency (70%) to achieve the shimmering effect.

Is the result in line with expectations?

After the final touches i could make a new pimp up action for the Pz IV H if needed.

Greetings!

Hello members,

thanks for feedback. The skirts and the PzIV are still in working process.

Another story:

Inspired from the Roma Victor Mod I talked with my friend (modelbuilder and Italy fan) about this theme. We come to the special/elite units of the WWII and to the available units in the mod. Surprisingly some of the most interesting units are not included, the Decima Flottiglia MAS with their combat swimmers or frogman.
The Decima Flottiglia MAS (Decima Flottiglia Mezzi d'Assalto, also known as La Decima or Xª MAS) (Italian for "10th Assault Vehicle Flotilla") was an Italian commando frogman unit of the Regia Marina (Italian Royal Navy) created during the WWII. Decima MAS was active during the Battle of the Mediterranean and took part in a number of daring raids on Allied shipping. These operations involved surface speedboats (such as the Sinking of HMS York), manned torpedoes (the Raid on Alexandria) and frogmen (against Gibraltar).
At this point I want to make a suggestion to nikivdd and Guille, if we can built in the following units for further game play. The first one are the frogmans with their main object, a seamine for antishipping tasks or other sabotage action and a version for pure infantry commando. The current look of it:

The second unit could be the manned torpedo SLC Maiale. In 1935, two Naval Engineers, Teseo Tesei and Elios Toschi decided to modernize the Mignatta (hand-guided torpedo of WWI). The "S.L.C." Siluro a Lenta Corsa (Slow Running Torpedo) better known as Maiale (Pig), was based on 533mm torpedo lengthened to 6,7m which included a detachable warhead containing 230Kg of Tritolital explosives and a time-activated detonator (a 7,3m containing dual warheads was later built). Two divers (or combat frogman) sat on the center section, breathing through Model 49 closed circuit oxygen rebreather (no detectable bubbles), maneuvering the 1,6Hp electric motor (no noise), giving the SLC a deadly & stealthy maximum underwater speed of 3 knots and 15-miles range. A modified submarine would bring the Pig as close to the target as possible, the operators then took control & forced their way through nets and barriers. Reaching the target ship, the warhead would be attached with cables to the keel, the timing device activated, and the operators would get hell-outta-dodge. Maiale destroyed 16 ships for a gross tonnage of about 200,000. Considering that only around 50 SLCs were built, that's an astounding success story for such a small team!
The SLC could work as a standalone weapon or as a switchable transport unit for the frogman with a start point from harbours, I’m unclear with it. The current look of it:

Whats your opinion about these new units?

I am getting the same error message so it isn't at least your personal problem. I guess the Slitherine techs need to take a loot at it.
