And hmm the Pirates wiin again and Tivials is still in charge of the street's hmm i smell a rat, a very big rat....

I'm not generally able to get off my couch due to gout and my formidable size. But occasionally the business of the Senate demands that I be present. I was brought hither by my 40 Nubians yesterday and heard the most remarkable tale in the Senate latrines: to wit, as the Senate cannot organize to act against Tiavals and regularize the slave trade with a more equitable division of the enormous profits, it will be done ex officio, by the private right of the few leading men who still love Rome.
I report only what I hear. I disdain intrigue. But these whisperers have a point.Without the Tiavals connection the Cilician pirates cannot prosper. Tiavals is a snake biting the bosom of Rome herself! Action!
A private army has gathered, I learn. Quaere: as the State interests of Rome are involved, will the Senate sanction the use of regular troops instead?
Great events await your reply.
Best,
Fattus Adiposus Magnus, Senator

These are most unusual accusations. That I would control the Slave Market? Preposterous! These are unfounded rumors, I am merely one of many enterprising Romans who are in the business of providing and selling slaves. Who among us is more against the Cilician Pirates than I am? I have even defended Cyprus from them a long time ago, but alas it was unsuccessful. That does not mean I am in league with them? Or shall we accuse all who have lost to the enemy as traitors? No! I would rather trust a general who has lost a battle, than one who never has. I have learned my lesson, and I have valuable experience in fighting the Cilician Pirates. Indeed, I should be put in charge of the recent proconsular army that will campaign against them. I will vanguish them and show my loyalty to Rome.

I think sending your august and corpulent personage against the barbarians of the north will get you back in trim for the senate. Send the good senator Turk and myself against the bloody pirates that foul our inland sea. Also the senator and i have no links to the slave trade and thus no possible conflicts of interest.

The IX has been odrered to sort out the brigands and thieves which frequent the slave market and replace order. The conspirator Tiavals is to surrender himself or suffer the consequences.

I think we should concentrate our efforts agains our real threats...Pontus and the Gauls.
Senator Tiavals should be sent to fight the pirates. I think he has a good chance against him and if some of the rumors are true at least he would be far from Rome.
The only onea who can benefit from a civil war are our enemies. Specially the ones near our bordes.
That's what I think.

Hail Senators
I am siding with Senator Fedem, who obvoiusly sees past the posturing & rumour mongering, to look at the good of Rome. Surely we should look past petty agrandisement & unite to quell the barbarians hordes, threatening our way of life. Don't forget that out forefathers watch from on high at such senseless acts.
The glorious 14th are marching northwards to once more ensure Romes safety, and I intend to be at its head ... this petty bickering and hand wringing is too much for a Roman of action ...

I have posted a challenge for your Gauls, once they can drag themselves for their hovels ... password victrix

Romans!
A reminder that the Senate must vote today, the 20th. Only Batesmotel appears to have forwarded formal proposals.
It appears, however, that some of the leading men, notably TGM, now hold the Senate in frank disdain and take counsel not of Rome's interests but of their private ambitions. Beware! Who can stop TGM, Rome's most successful general, from doing as he wishes, even marching on Rome? Fedem, you worry more about Pontus than TGM? Mithridates has offered a truce. TGM offers only an ominous and telling silence.
Who can say what is going on behind teh scenes? Well, i can, but I'm not tellin'.
Best,
Tim

I trust our great general TGM will not dishonor his ancestors and that he will remain loyal to our republic.
I'm sending emisaries to contact him so we can know once and for all of his true intentions.
If he is still with Rome as we all hope. His army is in good shape to attack the Gauls from the west and we can send some legions to get the barbarians from the south. Eventually we would hammered them between our two forces.
Im against a truce with Mithridates. He is a man of no trust as he proov it in the past. He must be stopped or even our Greece provinces would be in peril.
TGM pls send your answer to the senate. We are running out of time.
Salut!

Curse you Fedimicus, for you appear now to be no better than the rest. Why do I need to declare my loyalty when I and the xth have done everything Rome has asked , at great cost and sacrifice , where others suffer defeat after defeat? And what is the base of this accusation? A Gallic warchief at the gates of Rome and an effete Eastern Satrap that somehow manages to defeat Romes "mighty" generals again and again says so?
Really? Apparently the savvyness to detect the old "divide and conquer" ploy never dawned on any of you?
I am an old general and no political hack , but chew on this thought, if you can follow it: It seems to me that certain members of the senate are LOOKING to start a civil war, that way they can sieze xtra plenipotentiary powers to deal with said made up crisis. As if the armies of Gaul and Pontus at our doorsteps isnt enough of a crisis.
You want an "answer" from myself? here it is: Ist I was ordered to defend Hispania against ALL enemies of Rome, and I will do so. 2nd: Shame on the Senate, for if you truly had evidence of treason(and the stones to back up your convictions)

, you should really be sending an army to root it out instead of hoping for a "no, I'm loyal" hallmark card. Bahh.
Now Im off for the ridiculous and thankless task of tracking down brigands from the broken army of Sertorious in the wastes of North Africa. Good call Senate, what a great use of a veteran legion, when Rome has a Gallic horde at the door.

TGM, I had no intentions to offend you. In fact your answer was the one I was expecting. A true Roman loyal to the Republic. As we hadnt heard from you we needed to be sure to put an end to those damn rumors.
Message to consul Batesmotel:
My humble recommendation:
Revoke the orders given to General TGM and send him against the Gauls.
I think a few Cohorts would suffice to deal with the remnants of Sertorius forces.
Salut

Romans! Please attend to specifics. Naturally you are going to send armies to the threatened frontiers. The question is, which generals are to command, and who will serve under them? I'd suggest that generals who have not been successful in one theater be rotated to another.
That Rome has incurred so many defeats against both Pontus and the Gauls suggests that the heavens are adverse to Rome. Something must be done to sway Divine favor! The god Mars demands propitiation! Senator Fattus Adiposus Magnus, whom you all know well by now, administers a fund for the creation of a new temple to Mars. I encourage you all to donate as much as you can to ensure that Mars will honor Rome's quest for victory! Naturally your money will be held securely by the Senator and will be guaranteed by the august reputation of the Pontifex Maximus.
PM me your donations. Mars will ensure that those who donate most will be first on the field of battle!

3) Agreed. Send General Grayus Maximus aka TGM.

Orders? The 12th legion still awaits direction from the august senatorial leaders of Rome. I'd donate to the temple of Mars however since every denari i had available went into reconstituting the 12th legion for rome my purse grows thin.
I will await at my camp for a courier from the senate, failing his arrival I shall march on the gauls! For the glory of rome!
