Oh, what a lovely announcement! It’s also great to hear that all comments and suggestions will be taken into account! Tell me, dear author, will the Italian troops in the story about Ethiopia use chemical weapons against the local indigenous people, just as they did in real life!?

Fantastic idea to create a linked DLC campaign for Italy (my second favourite countermix to play with after the Soviet), though I hope that you will entertain the idea to put in a (short?) campaign in Spain before proceeding to North Africa. You definitely have some maps on that already, for instance Teruel which you have used so well in Prelude to Blitzkrieg - perhaps even Malaga from the old Roma Victor?

Standing by for playtesting this, and of course for the Soviet campaign. I hope you enjoy your holiday.

And so my campaign in the east continues: my troops have been routing Soviet border guards and their fortifications, as well as their colleagues from the NKVD! We’ve been defeating regular Soviet units and the local militia in Smolensk; I’ve even been given captured Soviet tanks, so Typhoon and Vyazma lie ahead of me.

Great units! And let’s stick to realism—if chemical weapons were used against anyone anywhere, then let’s have them! But whether to use them or not is up to each player to decide! Anyway, Nico, these are brilliant units and plans for upgrading them—well done, keep it up!!!

Thanks for considering it. I think you probably need to make Malaga, Guadalajara (perhaps initially as an attack, then as orderly retreat, a little like Frederikus in the Soviet campaign), one (two if you want to be very detailed) scenarios in the North (Bilbao, Santander), one for the counterattack after Teruel (or rushing to help in Teruel and then countering - a bit ahistorical perhaps), and one for the Ebro. And perhaps one more for the mop up in Catalonia, but that's probably on the boring side - you can simply rotate our General back to Italy after the Ebro for his well earned rest. So a total of five or perhaps six maps (seven, tops) of which you probably already have a few.

I am not familiar with the minute details of the operations of army in Ethiopia and the CTV in Spain, but it seems to me you have to plan the build up of the Italian core very carefully in Ethiopia and Spain. You might want to only allow infantry and artillery purchasables, and provide planes and tanks only as auxiliaries like you do in DR. Perhaps ration armoured cars and tankettes as special reinforcements (not elite - just scripted core additions in-scenario). What you don't want is a flood of tanks and planes in Spain, that was one of the things I hated about the PzCII DLC (that, and the infinite AA guns for the Republicans which was even more ahistorical). By the time the player gets to Libya he should have a nice little infantry, artillery and AA/AT core (you need something to face those T-26s and I-16s in Spain), a couple of tankettes, and a couple of planes. Then the player can build up his core in Libya as is allowed now.

This is very exciting. I love early war scenarios (but I still want to see Soviet DLC 43, 44 and 45 one day! :)) and the Italians have a fascinating countermix especially if you add Blackshirt infantry and the like (don't just make it weak, give it a benefit, perhaps mobility - not good for the late war, but a decent alternative in 1937).

I had to reconsider a few things regarding the connection between the Abyssinia campaign and Eagles in the Sand, especially the maximum core size and maximum experience levels. Because of that, I decided that the Abyssinia campaign will have a maximum core size of 6 units (plus auxiliaries in each scenario) and a maximum experience cap of 105.

As for Spain, I still haven’t decided anything yet — or even in what form it would appear if I decide to go ahead with it.

I had to dig through my archives for Spanish Nationalist and Republican units, and fortunately I managed to find them. Those units will be added to the armory.

I also keep getting questions about the continuation of the Soviet campaign, so who knows.

Some excellent portraits of leaders and commanders! Although it’s probably best to play the Ethiopian faction as Ethiopians ) After all, squads of archers and spearmen in tunics facing off against firearms is quite an exotic sight ))

The poor weather conditions and endless hordes of Russians led to my defeat! I’ll have to play it again! I even managed to capture Vyazma for the first time, but I was pushed back by the Red Army’s counter-attacking forces! I suppose I’ll have to conjure up some prestige for myself, because the meagre resources they give me aren’t even enough to treat the wounded )))

I captured Moscow, but according to the storyline, a message appeared saying we’d been forced to abandon it, and the demo ended. The Soviets put up a desperate and valiant fight, but cheats are powerful!

I still have a ton of work ahead of me, but at least most of my notes are finally on paper.
*Campagna d'Abissinia* will feature 9 scenarios, while *Avanti per la Vittoria* will have 6. In the end, all of the dynamically linked campaigns should tie together nicely.
I still need to add quite a few Spanish Nationalist and Republican units to the armory, but for the moment I'm focusing on the first campaign.
