edb1815 (Polish w Hussite ally) defeated ulysisgrunt (French) 54-16

The French set up between two woods with a grand battery of 3 bombards and several light guns in the center with Knights supporting and an infantry wing of Swiss mercenary keils and ordonnance longbowmen. The Polish set up with a woods on the left and a hill on the right. The infantry line on pavisiers was anchored by war wagons and the cavalry wing led by Polish crossbow armed knights was on the right. The French advanced to bring their gun line into range and get their keils into contact. Both sides cavalry advanced for a confrontation on the hill which the Polish occupied after driving off several French light lancers. Here is where the battle was decided as the French had one turn of incredibly bad luck losing 2 generals and a routed knight unit. The Polish cavalry charged forward and swept around into the flank of the guns as the longbows set up a line of stakes to hold them off. Polish light lancers and mounted crossbows did some damage to the longbowmen and several units chain routed. During this time the keils had advanced and broken a pavisier unit and a war wagon but it was too little too late.

Nice game and well played by ulysisgrunt, he was unlucky.

While losing the battle in the flat center, the Dabuyid made gains on the right hill through ranged and infantry superiority while holding out on the left hill.

Division A

Challenge1 Gallic 300-101 defeated Stones1985 Macedonian 320-261BC with Greek (280-228BC) allies 44-6

The first half of the battle saw the Gauls trying to manouever to a position where they had a forest covering their left flank and hoping to pull the Macedonians out of their tight formation. This was not particularly successful but it meant that the troops skulking in the woods were able to overpower the Macedonian right which comprised mainly lights and Med troops.
Both main battle lines were wary of closing and exposing unit flanks due to following up but clash they did and it could have been a very different story had 2 or 3 pike blocks not become fragmented on first contact.
