Youngr (Jewish Revolt) beat Morbio (Bosporans) 40-10
A bad match up for the Bosporans plus terrain that helped me

Yup, only about 25% of the field was suitable for HF and lancers, which meant I had to sit at the rear or my deployment zone for many turns until the Jews arrived... this was the period when my army performed best
When the lines met it was horrible carnage with imatation legionaries, warbands and theureophoroi all suffering against superior zealot charges

The first Sunday round-up is now posted. Just to explain the charts in the "arrange your matches here" threads to the many new players we have this season . . .
If you look at this chart, you just need to read across the chart to see how players have got on in particular matches. So, for example, deve has beaten Barrold713, cromlechi and General Shapur (all showing as 4 points won) and has lost to desertedfox (shown as zero points won). The other matches in deve's row are either in progress or have not started yet.

Division A
harveylh - Romans 105-25 BC defeats rexhurley - Graeco-Bactrians 250-130 BC, 63-49
The terrain favored the Graeco-Bactrians. However after that luck entirely favored the Romans. A very good and close good that was not won until the very last turn before nightfall. This battle proves it is better to be lucky than good! Romans had fragged C-in-C elephant rally and beat opposing elephant, lancer, and MI with the help of a flanking MI. Romans had raw legions pull back in face of pikes and lancers several times without any morale failures. They also fought very well. My worthy opponent guessed my secret. When as a Roman player you make your sacrifice to Jupiter you use
real virgins.

But be very afraid of the Graeco-Bactrians in future games as they are due extraordinary luck and my next sacrifice to Jupiter is for them!

Here is a peak at my lessons learned notes from my loss to Cunningcairn's Lydians:
1. Do not make mistakes. VERY IMPORTANT!
2. If even one Lydian Lancer breaks free to roam the countryside in the rear, time to PANIC!
3. Three perfectly formed units disrupted, one after the other, as each withdrew one hex. Maximus Toadius, I don't care if the men thought long gray cloaks looked cool or not, giving them the cloaks was definitely a bad idea.
Hopefully my notes will help others in these dark days.
Well played game by Cunningcairn and watch out for his Lydian Lancers in open countryside.
