Bob had a good lead early on and then I did (a game of 2 halves) but he then started closing the gap. He had a good chance of rallying a hirdsman unit with a general at the end but did not. We also made mistakes at the end.

A draw I think would have been a fair result. Well Played Bob.

Constricted battlefield with a river running between the two armies.

Both sides matched up with infantry on infantry and cavalry facing each other. An early exchange of fire between light forces initially favoured the Seleucids, until Roman forces emerged from a forest of cause havoc. This skirmishing drew in cavalry from both sides, and then the infantry until there was a brawl along the full width of the battlefield.

The battle turned on some desperately fine margins. Seleucid cataphracts held on until further horse could find flanks and one unit of veteran pikes held off three Roman legionary units for an age: this was just enough for Seleucids to squeak home.

Battle was very equal half way through. Albanian artillery managed to disrupt the Indian Elephants, Albanian cavalry managed to evade away from trouble, both sides had some steadfast archer units, but the Albanians had fewer cohesion drops. A couple of rallies of routed Albanian units helped them take the lead in points and they retained a cohesive centre which could still inflict damage whereas towards the end the strong Indian units were isolated and unable to effect the outcome. The Germans formed with a wood and some rough defended by bowmen on the left infantry strengthened by dismounted nobles in the center and half the lancers behind the center. The rest of the lancers were hidden in some woods on the right.

As the Vikings advanced the German lancers behind the center moved to meet the advancing Viking cavalry on the right. The infantry lines met and swayed back and forth as fortunes changed. The Berserkers threw a band of dismounted nobles into disarray by the violence of their attack, but they held and recovered. As the advancing lancers and Viking cavalry charged the rest of the German lancers advanced from the woods to overwhelm the mounted Vikings. The lancers then swung to flank the Viking line and began to roll it up.

I have no idea where the calculating score rules are located, so I just gave the in game score.

I am always preaching these guys move these tournaments to Discord. Is so easy to organize stuff there and its fast and instant. post pics easy, invite people easy, send instant notification easy, mention them in post, easy, right click on someone, ask them to play a game now, etc.... Hope one day they do, and you probably get more players, because I believe many get frustrated with finding stuff on here and waiting for slow loads, and so leave. Discord is made for gamers. Thanks

A very trying battle that I felt like I was going to lose for much of it. On a flat open map (cut with a stream in the middle) my foe wisely maxed out on chariots to exploit his manoeuvrability. After a gruelling march under harassment from his chariots I made it to his line and made short work of his limited infantry while my own light chariots helped keep his dangerous heavy ones off my back. Well-played and looking forward to next time!
