This is also just a picture and the debriefing, so nothing you have to start all over again for.
Well if so I will update and continue from my save where I am now )

I am also still learning. Sometimes I don't manage to find the right balance, for example. Sometimes it's too easy, sometimes too difficult. The golden mean would be good.
Skill and determination is different for every player too )

Uzbek, somehow I suspected that you would choose the sea route, that was a bit of a surprise
The main talent of a commander is to appear and act as little as the enemy expects from him ) Landing from the sea is sometimes quite difficult and there I lost two barges with Leopard tanks ))))) With small forces I moved also on land, but from the sea was the main blow )))))

Strange as it may seem, independent Kazakhstan, which prides itself on its peace-loving nature, has been involved in one war - the civil war in Tajikistan. In 1992, not only Russian peacekeepers, but also units from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan entered there. From the very beginning Uzbekistan and Russia waged, as they would say nowadays, a ‘hybrid war’ against Islamists. The war itself knocked on the door of the Kyrgyz near Batken in 1999-2000, and its most obscure episode was the battle in the Pshikhavr Gorge, when the Kazbat detachment, ambushed by Afghan mujahideen, lost 17 people killed and 33 wounded.

11 april 2020 : So far, so good, sir.
In one day, we have captured Stettin, the bridges on the Oder and the Polish depot in the forest.
The enemies counterattack are too weak to stop us ; and all our units are in good conditions, ready to advance to Warsaw if you wish so, sir.
Oh, a message from our french partners : "could you PLEASE just go East this time ?"
About difficulty : I like it how it is.
Until now, those 3 first levels (not including the initiation, of course) are easy. There is place for a lot of mistakes, the timer is generous, and we can deal with everything. And it's nice like that. No need to make every map a challenge. Sometimes, just launching our waves of superior tanks against the enemy lines is enough.
Nothing to change !

"Oh, a message from our french partners : "could you PLEASE just go East this time ?""
LOL. I've already prepared a French campaign in my head. But this time it's France that's invading Germany... Saarland to be precise. Playable with France and ...let's see maybe Belgium.
I just have to come up with a crazy story.

You're right, it doesn't always have to be a wild chase across the map to then narrowly win in the last round. I was also thinking about the players who like to spend a bit more time on the field, defeat one or two units or conquer another unimportant, distant location. You can take a break, rearrange the units, etc. I also find this kind of thing pleasant.

It doesn't go as far as Warsaw this time, the destination is reached at Wroclaw. By the way, I'm often in Poland, Silesia.
Very beautiful there and nice people.

But back to the game. It's interesting that you made a different unit selection at the beginning, while Uzbek and I bought almost identical units and their numbers. I only bought tanks bit by bit, but a lot of artillery and various infantry, plus the bonus units.
Fortunately, the prestige was sufficient, as I had to buy two more Eurofighters in the radar mission.

17 april 2020 : Kolberg is already in sight, herr generale.
We control the battlefield and have defeated the the Polish counterattacks on the center objective. An anti-ship missile hit one of our frigate, but luckily it apparently didn't explode. We still have two days to seize the last objectives and mop-up the remnants of the opponent army. Morale is high.
I did the exact opposite of bondjamesbond and choose the ground. No one on sea.
I carry a traumatism since England 40' scenario from panzer corps vanilla : every unit on sea is a potential casualty. So everyone on foot!
My army during Kolberg scenario :
2 brigades identical, each with :
- 1 infantry in truck ;
- 1 panzergrenadier in IFV (one difference, one brigade has the special 404. Pz grenadier Btn. . It is an excellent unit that represent well the current mechanized doctrines. I wonder if it could be a good idea to totally replace regular grenadiers units by this one, by the way? Maybe with a cost increase?)
- 2 leopards 2A5 ;
- 2 Panzerhaubitze 2000.
Independant support regiment, helping one or the other brigade, according to what is needed :
- 1 bridge engineer ;
- 1 AA unit.
Air force :
- 3 fighters ;
- 1 Tiger.
I will need pioneers for minefield and fuchs for reco, but it works well for now.

Well, everyone has his own tactics and strategy or better to say his own methodology ) I create my modern army and recruit in it the troops exactly those branches of troops with which I am comfortable both offensively and defensively ) Well, I recruit artillery and aviation quite generously as these are the main trump cards both in defence and offence in any modern war )
Tanks in big cities without infantry support are an easy target, which was well demonstrated by the conflict in Chechnya during the storming of Grozny )

And everyone is sure to have their favorite units that have to be included.
I had the idea of using the Elite Panzergrenadiers as a bonus because I was missing something like that in Modern Conflicts or because I was used to it from the original Panzer Corps.
But I think others feel the same way.

The tank of the future must reinvent itself or it will become a dinosaur on the battlefield. I personally see the same problem with combat helicopters, whose strongest competitor could become the drone.

Well, everything is important scenery, script, sounds and many other things as well as the plot itself ) I for example am always annoyed that there are maps in which the paratroopers can not work as a full-fledged military force, while I understand air delivery and landing can break the balance of the game and even the author's idea )))) For example the epic battle between Estonians and Eskimos never happened so it will look like a complete nonsense!!! )

Oh I see you got the cheetah as a bonus unit. Switch to ground combat mode and hold down the enemy infantry, the sound of the cannons is music to the ears.

Now during the deployment of the Polish paratroopers I noticed firstly: they simply did not land on the zones where they were planned, on the contrary they even flew back to their own lines and secondly: probably the maps were too small for me to deploy them, so it was actually just a practice shoot for my Eurofighters.

Indeed the Poles timidly undertook such a massive paratroopers' ejection but only one squad descended to the ground with the help of parachutes the rest of them were rushing back and forth until they were shot down in the air )) Such inept leadership of my troops by the AI was only to my advantage ))))
And when will it be possible to buy tank tractors because it is sometimes long and the technical resource of the machine wears out!?

That was my strategy since I play Eugen's wargame serie.
If I have more initial shock value than my opponent, I can break en force thought his line and destroy his most important assets at point blank range : artillery, AA, etc... That's why I favor the usage of Leopard 2 : that is both durable and agile in MdC (especially here against Poland, than only have inferior models of Leo 2).
Once ennemy entrachments are cut off from their supports, they are easy target for my fully supported infantry. I'm from the school of "shock and speed are key".
Since the unit density is low on this campaign (hopefully for me, it will stay like it until the end

), I have all the space needed to maneuver and strike the enemy where he is weak to kill his most precious assets.
Of course, this kind of plan don't work as well on trench warfare scenario
Tobi72 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 6:40 pm

On the same idea, the panzerjager btn. from 1st scenario is also a very interesting unit that show well the potential of helicopter transports in a modern battlefield. You don't need your unit to return to an airbase to load them in a plane ; helo directly come for them

. It was a very pleasant unit to use, but for this one I see how the ability to recruit it could break the game. And it could be argued that it's not possible to realistically use it like that as soon as the ennemy deploy AA assets. But that's still the kind of funtionnality that remind us we are playing with modern equipments, not with WWII ones.
I had the same vibes with the 404. Pz. grenadier Btn. , able to support allied advance with a range 1 attack with the marders.
I've not tried m113 mortar since my core is limited, but it also looks like a perfect unit for the scale of this campaign.
The Cheetah? a more classical unit, but indeed damn effective!
The 4 new units you added (maybe I'll see more in the next scenarii) are all perfect addition for MdC.
