I agree: that would be a great addition. Medieval period is in my opinion already more exploited (overexploited?) so the archaic age would stand out more and fit in well (only problem is lack of reliable information and historical sources). But of course medieval would be ok too.
Perhaps medieval is exploited in the fantasy, RPG and or real-time "strategy" games often made by giant corporations I wont bother mentioning, but for tactical, turn based war gaming, it's highly unrepresented! ( aside from FOG1 can anyone name any?)

Hittites and such could be fun but I fear large armies of low quality light foot and medium foot would be the bread and butter unit type you'd see on the table... of course if we can dismount Hector/Achilles or Ajax the Greater off their chariots in their heavy Mycenean bronze plate armor and rapiers, that could be fun!.

Alright, but can you name two?! ( should have seen that coming since I owned the predecessor of Vengeance)

I mean in general as a time period or setting in computer games (M:TW1&2, CK1-3, etc etc): that's why the archaic age sounds much more exciting. But medieval would be great too in the FoG2 universe. Although I'm still wishing for an official DLC covering ancient China and the Eastern Steppes.

I imagine this has more to do with Slitherine's enthusiasm then Byzantine Games.

Well, as far as I can tell, the art guy was pulled to work on Panzer Corps II over the last 8 months or so, and now PC II has announced dlc so...

It's been a year I'd expect they'd (Slitherine) say SOMETHING.

Perhaps Slitherine could consider outsource the modelling to accelerate the developing speed.

that would seem to make sense? there are a lot of people out there who can do 3D models and textures. But, maybe they just really want a consistent art style and feel that only that one guy can do it right? That would be understandable I guess, but also a serious bottleneck to development.

Bronze Age eventually would be a chance to give folks something a wee bit more historically accurate then the strange beast that Total War:Troy is shaping up to be

If the dev has any interest on outsource, actually I have friends who are working in game industry doing game modelling.

Yeah I am not sure what the hell they were thinking. Should either go all out on the mythical theme and do a Warhammer light in the same style as Age of Mythology or just stick to Shogun/Medieval/3 Kingdoms style of unit design and artificially differentiate them mechanically even if they don't make a lot of sense "in reality".

Instead, we have lots of regular dudes and Hector doing magical healing and stuff.

for what it's worth, there are references in the code to knights and keils.
(...)
// Was 200, but needed to be 300 to encourage knights to charge keils in the rear. However, this may make other types over-aggressive.
Will knights rear-charging keils get a Net PoA+300 (or 200) only when keils are engaged in close combat by another unit ? (I don't expect any answer for now. I'm just very interested. We'll find out in due time :-) )

That is a helpful suggestion, however I would imagine it's Slitherine, the publisher that would be paying for work and are the 'bottle neck' as it were.
EDIT: typo

With the end of the tournament and the launch of an update, are we close to the announcement of a new DLC?
