Hmmm... apologies, but I would like to withdraw. Between attacking anywhere and anytime, I'm afraid it's just not to my taste.

It does sounds like this will be a bit of a wild ride. On the bright side it will certainly generate matchups I would never think of playing solitaire.

The European and Near Eastern Gazette
Claims to unowned territories continue to be received at this office. Six Kingdoms have submitted papers in triplicate to this newsroom filing outrageous unjustified claims to independent lands. Local landowners report widespread panic. Alfonso de Alac'a'Name when interviewed in his home village of Wareizit in Slovakia stated
Som strach, pretože moje vznášadlo je plné úhorov, which roughly translates to "I'm scared because now my hoover thing is full of eels!"
In other breaking news:-
Call to Arms in Britain
The King of Scotland has issued a challenge to the King of England to advance his claim to the English throne. This claim has been resoundingly rejected by the King of England and he has
accepted the challenge marching his hastily assembled entourage to the border. The continent waits with anticipation...
Simultaneously,
DillyO'Dilly King of Ireland challenged t the King of Poland in a fit of Irish rage at his usurpation of the Polish throne, which in his mind belongs to his second brothers third uncle of their neighbour's Aunty Caoimhe in the village in County Wexford. O'Dilly claimed this morning,
"...that jumped up Polak swineherd has no right to annex, confiscate, grab, impound, repossess, sequest, defalcate, embezzle, misapply, misappropriate, misuse, peculate, or thieve my friend's Aunty's birthright. Clearly, having swallowed a dictionary for breakfast this reporter later observed O'Dilly gathering in the gallowglas and kern, 'bonnachts' and the newly settled Scots, referring to them as those bar-legged mountain men - those 'Redshank' heathen for a farewell banquet of 108 different potato dishes and brimming vats of blinding Poitín. KiwiWarlordski, King of Poland, has accepted the challenge and Europe waits with drooling trepidation to determine whether the Irish will be capable of finding Poland in the morning and at the resulting reply!
Call to Arms in Eastern Europe
The Tzardom of Russia under Mouse-e-tung has declared Uzbek Hetmanate part of the Tzarist Kingdom to monopolise the Sardine supply from the Kaspian. Unfortunately the Swedish King has also laid claim to this valuable piece of real estate for their lutfisk production The King of Sweden, also known as "The Lion of the North" is en route with his army.
Since these are the first two illustrious leaders to claim this territory, they have the 'right to fight'. Anyone else who may wish to lay claim in their orders to come will now need to negotiate a challenge with the future winner.
The continent waits in suspense! Good luck. The rest of us...feel free to take sides to gain favour.
Call to Arms in Western Europe and West Africa
Spain extends the Reconquista with the invasion of Morocco and claims Portugal to be territories of the Spanish crown. His Serene Highness the Sultan of Morroco G bin Dodaziz accepted both challenges and refutes these outrageous claims. War is imminent!

Story-line updated in last posting of The European and Near Eastern Gazette. Awaiting The King of Poland's reply
And which army will you be using today O'Dilly? Irish with a hint of English or purely Irish son's from someone else's mother? [Ireland has access to Irish, Jacobite Irish and Anglo-Irish [as does England]. Everyone, please specify your preference when issuing a challenge, or state "pot luck when appropriate". In this case, so the Polish usurper can shake in fear.
I hope there's no Polish spy's around!

Gavin,
just to be clear on the challenge process is it a 4 step process;
1/ challenger issues the challenge and states which army he is using
2/ defender checks out the armies he can use by going to version 3, inputting the challengers army, selects the nearest valid army with "filter army list" on, if none selects the nearest valid army with "filter army list" off.
3/ posts his reply including the army he has selected
4/ challenger creates the battle
or is it a 3 step process;
1/ challenger issues the challenge and states which army he is using
2/ defender checks out the armies he can use by going to version 3, inputting the challengers army, selects the nearest valid army with "filter army list" on, if none selects the nearest valid army with "filter army list" off.
Defender creates the battle once he has selected his army (he is already in the create skirmish screen)
3/ posts his reply stating army selected and gives the password

I think the simpler process the better, so I'm all for a 3-step process. So, if there are no objections we'll adopt your well-explained process.

In future, O'Dilly decides which Irish horde he's using, then you can set up the challenge [You can search your options in the skirmish screen and set up the battle] and finally post your choice and password. As it stands O'Dilly has set up the challenge correctly as communicated by your pm
PS. Being the King of Poland now, I've taken the liberty of adding "ski" to the end of your handle...[KiwiWarlordski King of Poland - Welcome to the family

Spain extends the Reconquista with the invasion of Morocco, with the Spanish 1494 - 1502 army list. [PM] Spain hereby claims Portugal to be territories of the Spanish crown.
G bin Dodaziz accepts your challenge and refutes your outrageous claim to Morocco, and your attempted annexation of Portugal. As the Serene highness, the Sultan, has also made a rightful claim to Portugal we shall have war. Pot luck I calculate! I'll set both games up.
I believe Pot luck for Portugal and Moroccan for defence of Morocco, if I'm not mistaken
Rex Hispaniarum. I shall return by horseback anon to pass on the password and details.
I'm back...pant pant...

Both
the Sun King of France Aryaman Bourbon and Mad King William Felipe I of Spain claim by right to the kingdom of Italy. The Bourbon king bases his claim on a future assertion to the right to remarry Marie de' Medici in the event of his current wife's death, even though Felipe is currently married to the very same women.

Note: Previous map shows clash in England from Irish invasion. This of course is wrong as it should be Ireland's invasion of Poland. Sorry, we employed an Irish reporter!

Challenges for Morocco and Portugal accepted. Neither specified the location (Morocco or Portugal), so we will have to decide before battle commences and ideally before we see the battlefield terrain. Unfortunately they both have the same time stamp, so we can't tell them apart from that. Add a comment to the first of the two challenges that you play that it is for Morocco, and comment that the second one that you play is for Portugal.

The Polish King offers his chair to the O'Dilly Irish and welcomes his Catholic Brothers to share fish on Fridays and potatoes for the rest of the week.
The Winged Hussars have hung up their feathers, the lance/carbine/bow horsemen have retired their horses to pasture & donated their weapons to Museums, the peasant Infantry have given their unwieldy axes to the Black Smiths and have begun planting potatoes.
After several practise games I find the Poles are rubbish against Pistol Impact/Melee & Impact Foot/Pike.
I do not want to hide at the back of the map in forests & marshes or on steep hills, if any of this terrain is indeed available, or try and play Cowboys & Indians in the Steppes.
I suggest to others such as the Ottoman Turks, to use the O'Dilly Method, pick your best time period and make a Challenge.
Turks, and others such as Persians, should only use their late 15th/early 16th century armies for challenges.
