I may have missed it in this long thread, but I haven't seen any comment as to why an updated version of the existing QRS for playtesters cannot be issued. This could be in addition to Hammy's version.
Can that be done?

I am using the beta QRS as a basis and have been suprised by how many subtle wording differences there are. The different words don't actually change things but I can see a QRS which uses one phrase and rules that use a different one leading to confusion.
It won't be too long before I have something for people to download.

				Hi Hammy
We are playing our first game on Saturday [actually 2 are playing and I am helping with the rules etc as 3 heads are better than one!]. So if you would like some players new to the rules to play test the sheet then we would be happy to oblige. But I will be out of email contact for the weekend from 5:00pm Friday which will not be helpful.

Sounds like a possible plan.
Pop me an e-mail to
hammy@the-riverbank.net or a PM on the forum with your E-Mail address.
I won't have the fully tarted up prety version by then but should have all the charts ready to go.

Permission to modify and post Beta QRS
				Posted: Thu Feb 21, 2008 11:08 pm
				by MJT
I have a modified Beta QRS which is easier to read (than the original) and still fits on 2 A4 pages.
If the authors will give permission I'm happy to post it.
It my be useful as an interim QRS until a better one becomes available.

I am hoping to have something real soon now.
The Beta sheets are significantly different in the exact words used (something I have found as I work on a new QRS) and a QRS with different words will only get people thinking that there is significance in the difference.

Very prescient Hammy, exactly the sort of thing gamers tie themselves in knots over. Consistent wording will be much appreciated.
I think the Beta QRS is a great start but as mentioned previously, and endorsed by a few, Appendix 8 needs to be involved somewhere. I currently play with the two main beta sheets in colour and back to back, laminated, with Appendix 8 on the back of the terrain sheet.
I've looked at them all and can't see you to get to just one A4 even without terrain set up etc. My idea would be as above but dropping the turn sequence from the main two (not sure what to use the space for - probably list of must/cant charge rules and exceptions) and drop the points table from the terrain table and replace with terrain/visibility chart and also more of the set-up sequence. Then that chart would be used at the start and flipped over for use of App 8 during games with the other double sided chart being used for most references if any.
I'm presuming that fair use that JD mentioned would be the construction of QRS's for owners of rules for own use with no dissemination?
Steve

The mark 1 version is in the hands of a couple of people for games over the weekend and on Monday. Assuming I get some feedback there should be a mark 2 on Tuesday.

Brilliant - having now read right thru the rules I can't wait to get going.

Should be fun 5 dyed in the wool played everything and bored + 1 new enthusiastic with everything.
3 at best having read the rules (at least in part), and using both figure scales! - Not in the same game!

Lets take it slow then.

Shame Amazon held back the lists I ordered!

Which lists did you order? Only Rise of Rome and Storm of Arrows have been published thus far. The release dates for the others are still some months away.
Cheers,
Scott

Any news on a QRS ? I am going to copy the on in the book and blow it up a bit , but a nice colourful one would be good.
It would be handy for my first few games , thinking of playing a solo game to get the hang of the rules.

It has taken a little longer than I had hoped but the mark 3 is being sent to the authors for them to confirm they are OK with it. I have been given a deadline of the end of the week for the sheet to be on the website.

Sorry, no sign at the moment. There has been a significant rethink in the way the QRS should be presented. I have all (or at least allmost all) the tables that are needed done but the final layout is having a major rethink. Sorry to cause issues for people who hoped to have the QRS really soon. I am still working on ideas and will post somthing as soon as it is done.

Me and Tim (madaxeman) played a game last Tuesday with our new rulebooks and didn't found much use for a cheatsheet at all. There some in the end of the book so they are easy to find and the rulebook is light enough that you can carry it around.

Personally I would like to keep the rulebook as pristine as possible. A PDF QRS can take the damage from drink spills, tugging matches with 12 year old wargamers etc and leave my nice shiny book intact
