Saturday I was looking through flakfernrohr's thread viewtopic.php?f=147&t=42725 and I noticed a most beautifully rendered dual model of the Panzer E-75. As I have been scouring the net for some usable image to do a decent rendition of an E-75, I was very pleased indeed. The result is just so incredibly cool. Check this out:

EDIT: The barrel shadow needs significant changes.

The Panzer E-75 aka the Tiger III. I've shrunk it to 158 pixels, so it is about the same size as a vanilla Tiger II, its predecessor. I cleaned up the original model by removing the track pieces on the turret, which look great on the large model, but which look out of place on the small model. Contrast cranked up. (Done the same to the E-25 and the Loewe; I might enlarge the Loewe in a similar way today). This unit looks incredible ingame.

See how well the E75 skins. The tank itself looks mean, like it will ruin anything that dares to face it. :-)

This why I want enlarge the Loewe a bit. Even the E-50 (Panther II) looks bigger.

I've retouched the Loewe. Reshrunk it to 158 instead of 148 pixels to make it look a bit bigger.

Does anyone have a good model or picture of the Panzer E-100? Image taken from the side with a slight upwards angle, preferable without camo and other extraneous stuff?

Here's what I've got:

On top I have a (semi) correct angled shot of a toy model. I still have to scrub all the camo, patina and small details that will look bad once shrunk. I'm not over the moon with this model, but will give it a shot just to see what happens.

The other option is that I take the track from the E-75 and enlarge it. Then I will take the body of the E-75, enlarge it and place it over the tracks in a lower position. Then the fun part: Freehand drawing skirts and softening the edges, cause the E-100 wasn't very angular. Once done, I put a Maus turret on my contraption.

Never mind the colors and proportions in this image, they can and will all be fixed.

So what do you think?

I think you will obtain a better result using the top (E100) profile... And less work also... Just my suggestion.
Anyway, I am sure you will end up with a superb icon! :-)

Maybe? Google gave me this:

If you're willing to do the post-processing yourself, here's an image which I believe was part of the same series the E-75 you posted above was taken from.
Flakfernrohr once sent me a copy back when I still was in touch with him - and it doesn't currently look as if he's going to do anything with it himself.
Drop me a PM if you're interested in the rest of the E-series teasers he sent me.

Thank you. Both images are unfortunately unsuitable. Both have wrong angles and the first one really looks too much like a toy. The second one is great though. I had seen it before and had been tempted to email the owner for an angled shot. :-)

It's late, so I'm calling it a day. But I'm almost done. The E-100, Tiger Maus variant.

I still have to shrink it to the exact right size. I'll use the Maus and Churchlakecity's E-100 for comparison. Then putting it all together in one image, the insignia, the shadows (-- I hate doing shadows --), Mask, DCS check, efx values, etc. Heh. I like doing this. Except the shadows.

Also, it would be good to make the variant with the Maus turret, which, I think would have been the first one to be put in production... :-)

By the way, excellent work!

The finished E-100 TigerMaus. I had to clip the barrel a bit to keep the rest of the image in proportion, but I think it looks just fine.

Efx.pzdat data:

Code: Select all

E100_TigerMaus.png	(128,-23)	(-128,-23)	(,)	(,)	AThvy1	AThvy2 tracked_heavy1	tracked_heavy2	tracked_heavy3
Equipmentfile data, which I make up as a placeholder until someone finalizes it. Basically I have given it Rezaf's E-100 stats, downgunned it a bit, but gave it more initiative (+1) in exchange. And I called it the The Panzer E-100 B, cause Panzer E-100 TigerMaus is such a mouthful:

Code: Select all

4127	Panzer E-100 B	1	1150	6	45	4	2	0	17	9	24	0	1	28	20	6	1	0	E100_TigerMaus.png	01.12.1945	31.12.1946	0 Panzer E-100 B Tiger-Maus	rott Pze100 sea rail glider
Enjoy!

Thanks!

The variant with the Maus Turret will be done next. I need to scrub some camo off, but it will be here soon enough. :-)

...or may be you can use the turret from the stock game Maus icon? (maybe adapting it a little).

Color manipulations, brightness/contrast, etc. always leave some artifacts. I'd rather have those artifacts on a large model than on a 148px model. Fear not, I have a genuine E-100 from the same source as the E-100 Tiger Maus. It looks incredibly good. It just requires some work. I'll scrub one turret clean first, transplant it on the other model and see what happens. If not, I'll work on this half an hour every day, whilst doing other models too.

To give you an idea as to what I'm doing:

I'm working on the left image. It's not hard. It's not difficult. It's just time consuming.

You would need to manually add to the equipment and efx file, as well as manually copy in the relevant .png files. At some later stage, I might give this some more thought, but GME support is currently out of project scope. Sorry.
