I advise against attacking the Caucasus. It's only a good idea when you know that your flank will be secure and that you can hold the oil fields for a while. You don't have a decisive advantage in the SU, but there are some fair weather turns left, so I think that you should move forward, destroy as many units as possible and then withdraw to the Rostov line.

Not sure about the easiness of destroying more soviet units in the south since they are constantly retreating.

Yeah, the Allied player is playing smart here IMO. It's only 1942, the Soviets can certainly afford to lose some cities if that allows them to save units.

Turn 55. August 16, 1942

I think jjdenver doesn't care too much about the invasion in Southern France. The reason for doing it is to force you to send significant forces to deal with the invasion. That relieves the pressure on Russia.

I think he will suffer from the upcoming defeat because the Allies will lose momentum so you can maybe keep Italy through 1943. You seem to have enough units in Russia to destroy anyway.

It's definitely possible to defend Italy until 1944. In fact, if you lose it in 1943, you are usually in trouble. I know that Italy suxx, but that additional PP and MP pool really helps Germany.

Try moving a German unit to Sicily. Losing Italy in early 1943 will really hurt the Axis, I think.

Also, might be prudent to move a garrison or a partisan unit to Helsinki. No good having an empty capital with enemy paras in sight..
