Incidentally, is it possible to have an overview in V2 of all changes, as was done in the different béta versions ?
A good summary was published in July on the Field of Glory website
http://www.fieldofglory.com/news/2
Although I suspect it doesn't cover everything....

Guys a big thanks for all your support here, certainly made me smile. Also I contacted Wanka.com to make a loan application, but got refused. They said that anyone who puts money into a tabletop rule system has more money than sense, so a bad risk!!

I am glad to see we are about to have a print copy available. I am running the FoG world championship at Cancon in late January using v2 rules and it looks like the books will arrive just in time.

JD, I am surprised by company Wanka.com turned down your application as I imagined that you were the hands on type of individual who likes to be self sufficient in this sort of thing.
Oh well there goes any chance of a discount.

Hi guys, before I come to my original concern I want to say that I was very annoyed when I learned that v2 would be digital only and that I was even more thankful when I learned that you made it possible for people like me lacking the appropriate hardware to get a paper copy of the rules. I never complained about the waiting time and pre-ordered the book on the first day without watching or complaining about the price. I don't like how many people couldn't ever be satisfied by your efforts and I don't think those people deserve what you made possible to them....
...nevertheless I'm afraid I have to complain now that I've got my book today.
No, it's not just because I want to complain but because I really feel I didn't receive the quality that you announced here:
the printed proofs of V2 just arrived and look really good. We compared blind and we actually found people preferred the new version to the old version so that's a good sign!
Maybe I had bad luck and received a copy that doesn't match the standards. If you want, I can provide photos tomorrow when the light is better. Until then I have to describe the problem: In comparison to the old book, I feel like every text is written in bold letters now. This might be intended, and it's not that much of a problem. Second problem and a little bit more severe: I have some sort of stripes of a slightly different shade mostly on the right hand pages. It can be seen best in tables with green shaded cells. It's only slightly and only gives a hint the print quality wasn't that good. But the most severe problem and it really is one: All colored blocks seem to fade out into the nearby lighter areas with the effect being stronger depending on the colour. It results in (white) text inside coloured blocks nearly unreadable. It's worst with the dark blue like in the sections "Battle Groups" or "Joint Action Phase".
If this is the standard quality and it couldn't be better for the price, it's a little bit sad but I can live with it. But as other players from Germany report that they are really satisfied (I haven't seen any other copies for myself by now) I fear I simply received a bad copy. And if that is the case I think I've got the right to complain as I payed the same price as others and possibly received worse quality than others.
I will provide pictures tomorrow and perhaps I can get a replacement if it happens to be an individual case?!
Best regards
Sebastian

Well, Sebastian, at least you have a book. Today I got an email from Plimus advising that "only slitherine can provide technical support for my purchase". Which I made over three weeks ago, and have seen neither hide nor hair of.
Given that you are advising of illegibility (how is that even possible with such a small print run?) if my copy isn't OK then it seems likely I will have played at least one, and possibly two, comps before I even get a readable copy. All for a product that was 'available by christmas' - sorry, if you can't deliver it, it isn't available (any 3 year old knows that).
Disappointingly poor, clearly Osprey contributed more than just a few pictures...

I think you have been unlucky. Mine is perfectly fine and well up to the standard promised.
Having worked with books for 30 years you do get duff copies in any print run, including POD. I have seen books bound upside down, blank pages galore, the right cover with the wrong book bound inside etc etc.
Like any decent publisher I am sure faulty copies will be replaced with a smile.

Anyone interested in this?
I forgot to mention that I have part of an image missing:
Here you can see the blue shade in the text. Unfortunately the picture somewhat mitigates the effect. In reality it's worse...

It's can be best seen here:
I hope someone feels responsible in the near future....
Yesterday I received an e-mail from the customer service. I could request a re-send. Is that the way to go?

Surely what you mean is the rules are different in V2, and so is the image.
I also have what was white on blue V1 and is now light blue on blue V2. I can see that its different, but don't see it as a problem.

If, depending on light in a room, one cannot easily read texts because these are coloured similar as the background, then I see it as a problem.
Obviously others received copies without that problem. All I want is the same.

If you have a poor copy send it back. They must refund or replace.

No you haven't. The left part of the diagram in the V1 rules related to partial interpenetration, which no longer exists, so that part of the diagram has been removed in V2.

I have this in my book, but I wouldn't have noticed it without you pointing it out. It's not a big deal IMO and I don't think you would be mentioning it if you weren't comparing it too a book you already have. Yes it is slightly harder to read, but it's not like it's the actual rules that are in blue text.

I think you do have the same as everyone else. It's just that no-one else sees it as being a problem.
It sounds to me like you have a normal copy of the book, and you are being very picky and complaining about very minor issues.

I too have the changed diagram and the light blue on dark blue text. I find the latter easier to read than previous.

I received my 2 copies today! (One is mine and the other is a gift for a friend)
As I see, some errors in the PC version are now corrected!
Ready for tomorrow's friendly match!

Sorry that I expected at least the same quality as v1 for this price. As said before, if this is the quality of the print and it can't be better, then it's a little bit sad but okay. I just thought I had received a bad copy which was possible, wasn't it?
At least I got some answers from you if not from the officials which is also a sad thing...

As I believe has already been stated on this forum, if you feel that your copy did not arrive with the expected quality, there is a forum section regarding ordering. Post there are ask for a refund.

Slitherine has been closed for roughly two weeks around Xmas and New Year's, as they announced elsewhere in the forum. I believe they should be back in the office on Monday, the 7th.
