Swifter than Eagles would be damn great ...

No, the new version will be free whether you buy an add on or not.

I think that's very nice. And generous.

Dragons, please!

Possibly a dumb question but is there any net loss/gain in continuing to purchase add-ons before the re-write or waiting?

I would suspect Swifter than Eagles. Lots of existing artwork that may work with it (perhaps) and its Mediterranean in and fits into the scheme a bit better than the Dragon module (which I would prefer ...).
I love the armies in Empires of the Dragon book. The Han Chinese in particular look like a good army. Add in some of the obscure ones like the Burmese and you have the entire East Asian army list. But I remember hearing that the graphics would be too expensive for the entire book to make it work. So how about having an online poll for the customers to choose from say 25 of the 37 armies in the book. For instance I would not be keen on Med. Indonesian/Malay and also the Pagan Burmese is HIGHLY optional for me.

In the past Slitherine repeatedly added new battlegroups and graphics to already existing expansion packs - which is a very welcome service. While most of them look great, some of them don't (a few are so ugly that no one dares to use them in custom scenarios) - or they just don't fit the style of the other ones (like the 'Dacians' or the 'Celtics'). The graphics of the new Feudal battlegroups that came with the last update for example simply don't match those of the other knights, which is a real pitty. IMHO money should be more carefully spend on new graphics. I would prefer a new expansion pack with good, well-chosen graphics rather than well-meant updates with mediocre or even bad ones.

This is an excellent idea - perhaps we can have a mix-pack, i-.e., most popular armies from both Dragons and Eagles (if we can only have 1 more expansion)?

I, for one, am not for that. I would only buy an expansion pack on one topic. There are over 20 armies in the Dragon book that are worth playing. Close to the same for the Eagles book too.
I, also, am against the battle pack idea. I think that its a classic waste of time (to build it and the website maintenance to promote and download it) not only for Slitherine but also for the customer. I will not be buying it and hope that they do NOT put graphics in it as it would be just another "ADVANCED SQUAD LEADER PACK" that you find down the road is needed to participate in some tournament. Or play a scenario that someone designs.
Forget about anyone crying about wanting something SOON. Put out GOOD quality modules instead.

Well, ideally they would release all the TT expansions.
But if it was either a mixed book, or only one book, I would rather the former. There are over 50 armies in IF, so we could in theory have your "over 20 armies in the Dragon book that are worth playing... close to the same for the Eagles book too" in one expansion.

What is "IF?"

Immortal Fire? I keep reading references to a battle pack, but have no idea what that is. Can someone enlighten me?

I believe the Battle Pack will just include additional scenarios for the game, no new DAG content.

Oh! Aren't there a gazillion scenarios out there already?

Yes, quite a few. This makes them Slitherine approved and possibly cleaned up. I'm undecided as to whether I'll buy it where I've bought all the DAG add ons. I believe there will be a last update for the old software released at the same time (1.7.3).

This is what I read too. Scenarios but no armies.
This leads me to another question. Will all the current scenarios (including user made) run on the rewrite version? I would hope so.

Hello guys!
As I told you, everything which was, and will be, released on the old version, will be ported to the new version, including everything which will appear from now on until the new version will be launched. Also, the old 3rd party scenarios (ie the user made scenarios) can be ported to the new version of the game, as it will contain an importer with the old format and can be saved then in the new format. Is it clear for everyone?
We leave nothing behind! Except the old deprecated code, of course
Also, the Battlepack will only contain battle scenarios and the last bunch of fixes for the old version, just something for you to play with until the release of the new version. It won't contain new armies but, if you wish, you can get it as a support to the development of the new version of the game.

Thinking about the new version, I use FoG on an old laptop, and it works perfectly. Have you ever thought possible incompatibilities by introducing a new rewrite of the game?

Since the update is free, it seems there would be no reason to not use it. I doudt that the old and new will be compatable for MP.....

I am talking about hardware incompatibilities, in relation to the requirements needed to run the new version, like RAM, graphics card, etc..
