If Axis attack USSR in a unbalance way, will your systems work well ? ie : If Axis only concentrate to attack in the north ,they will get around Moscow in Aug 1941 , but in the south they only progress a little . So will the southern rail system also work as usual or stop ? Or If Axis make the southern attack in 1942 , they get the rail without any delay ?

Yes, the rail lines advance from their current positions so they should advance where the Germans make progress and stand still where the Germans don't make progress.

This sounds better and better. I just hope that it will be sensibly integrated into the UI, because that feature is extremely important.

No. We add new variables to be stored to the save game so the existing save games will be invalidated.

This really make me disappointed ! I do hope someday we can enjoy the game without any patches disturb . :(

This is part of being a beta tester. If you don't want patches you wait for the new release.

We asked about this a few days ago and people agreed that we should go ahead with the desired solution even if it invalidates save games because it will make the end version better.

I can wrap up the version we will implement. We don't need a poll for that because I'm actually coding the change now.

What we do need is a discussion about the range for truck supply. One suggestion is 6 hexes in fair weather, 4 in winter, 2 in mud, 0 (axis) / 4 (USSR) in severe winter.

Another suggestion is 10 hexes in fair weather, 6 in winter, 3 in mud, 2 (Axis) / 6 (USSR) in severe winter.

The truck supply allows for supply level 4 even when outside the range of the rail heads.

Another question is if we allow for truck supply whether we should do something about the supply range from the major power capital. Supply range of 20/40 will drop supply for the Axis to supply level 3 slightly east of Moscow regardless of truck supply. Maybe the supply range for supply level 4 in Russia should increase from 40 to 50 if Moscow is Axis controlled.

I can code my changes this week while we discuss such important aspects of the supply rules.

I do know about the responsibility of a beta tester & I have always hold my responsibity . My words is just to express my feeling . I hope you can understand . Even if a beta tester also should have the right to express their true feelings . Please not to be too parochial ! :evil:

If we have made numerous updates that would have invalidated save games then I would have understood. But we've tried as much as possible to avoid that. I think this is the first time in a long time that the save games became invalidated.

I'd suggest a new thread explaining where you are at now (which is not where this thread started) and perhaps proposing a new poll on truck supply.

That said, this is all a tough call before some play with the new rules. My inclination is for 8 (fair weather), 5 (winter), 3 (mud), 2 (Axis severe winter) / 4 (Soviet severe winter). Yes, I know that penalizes the Soviets a tiny bit for Severe winter too. But I don't think it's too bad. I definitely think Axis truck supply should be more than 0 in severe winter (at least 1 or 2)!

I kind of like increasing supply range for the Axis if Moscow is conquered, particularly since it was a major rail hub.

I Like the Rail Head concept, and I like 10/6/3 (2 & 6) for Truck supply. Humm - Supply range from the Major power cap - 20/50, sounds OK...

Yes , you are right . It is the first time .

Regarding to the truck supply , it looks good of your suggestion . but how about to increase the Axis truck supply ability of severe winter after 1942 . Since they had got used to the climate & upgrade the fuel & lubricant & antifreeze solution .

I've now completed coding the rail and truck supply code. It seems to work well so I let Ronnie and Paul test it. I also changed the code so rail movement will only happen from or adjacent to any resource to or adjacent to any resource within the same rail gauge. A resource is a capital, city, fortress, mine and oilfield.

I added a functionality so the supply level 4 for the Axis is extended 10 hexes in Russia if Moscow is Axis controlled. That should make Moscoe even more important and definitely worth defending. Moscow was a major rail hub and would make it easier for the Axis to send supply if captured.

The next I will work on now is a minimap to show the rail heads for the standard gauge and the broad gauge.
