The Eastern Emperor has chased the Persians from Babylon....although the Persians left casualties on the battlefield, they appear to have taken their loot with them....

Western Prestige +1 no looting +1 persians ejected = +2
Eastern Prestige +1 no looting +1 persians ejected +2 Decisive (advantaged) victory = +4

Admin and moves for 366 please....

The Franks are caught while looting Franks, and brought to battle by the First Western Army, while the Alemanni slink deeper into Gaul.
The Vandals take advantage of the retreat of the Romans to raid Alans.

First Battle of Franks
Roman (450+7 poor Limitanae) vs Franks (500) in Mixed terrain

Note - no restrictions on the Romans force mix due to prestige, but they MUST take Frankish allies.

Good luck!

We await the scummy scums' posting of the battle where we will reclaim our homelands. Our vast and varied army will soon reign supreme. (Hopefully not in the Underworld!!! )

ist Army of the West deploys in Franks, somewhat bemused that due to the success of the Eastern Roman Emperor our reinforcements now are smaller :( damn cheapskate commisars

Challenge issued

450 ap's spent plus 7 free cannon fodder( oops i mean limies)
mixed terrain army built out of a 600 ap list to get the proper map size (you might not be aware of this Blathery since you have managed not to fight a single battle yet  )

The battle vs the Franks in Franks over franks is over

Both armies battered themselves into pieces... if not for the lousy performance of out Frankish allies(treachery?) things might have been different.....

Romans 48/47 6285/14100
draw vs
Franks
66/66 6936/19800

Thanks for the game!

(hey we should switch avatars :) )

Barbarians retreat back across the border if the battle is a draw.

Hmm, only Davouthojo knows. Will have to wait for him to tally up this turn and give the deadline for the next moves. You still have time to escape:)

I would not think any loot. Maybe if I had won the battle outright.

The battered Franks withdraw to their homeland; the even more battered Romans are left in possession of the battlefield.
No looting this turn:
Western Emperor: +1 Prestige (+1 no looting; +1 forced withdrawal; -1 draw at even odds)
Eastern Emperor: +2 Prestige (+1 no looting; +1 forced withdrawal)

Will the Roman Emperor call on emergency levies after losing so many men?

Next moves and reinforcements please!

25 APs. You also had the 5 free limitani and fight armies with no MF means these aren't worthless troops. Some how a 5% difference in points sounds pretty even to me. Whine away!

Baahhh, you cursed barbarians can stick together... You should have been rooting for a decisive defeat of the Franks since they will soon over power you all!

Now give me some cheese with my whine.

More whining:

D, I thought you were going to change how casualties are deducted from Romans where they take Limitinaie... They are still being double counted for lossses.....

Oh well, I am good for one more battle and then West will be thouroughly depleted

You are right mouser, formula has been changed to straight percentage of losses, adds back 20 or so to your strength

Movement 367AD

Image

The Western Emperor mounts an all out defence of Gaul, shipping the Second Western Army round the Empire to Belgica. They disembark without opposition, and march out to encounter the startled Alemanni, who pull their scattered looting parties in to fight the Romans.....

Roman intelligence services get wind of the Goths reinvading Thracia, and the Second Eastern Army falls on them the moment they cross the border.

The Vandals don't loot Alans, instead press on deep into the Empire.....wondering where all the Romans have gone......

2 battles to resolve:

First Battle of Belgica
Roman (445 points) vs Alemanni (415 points) in MIXED terrain = Even odds
No restrictions on the Roman selection...no limitanae (not a frontier province)

First Battle of Thracia
Roman (560 points+5 poor limitanae) vs Ostrogoths (500 points) in MIXED terrain = Roman advantage
No restrictions on the Roman selection.....due to timely providing of reinforcements.......

Good luck!
