I think I must take out my Swiss and drive your armies off the table next time we meet ;)
HAH! So far every time you played Swiss you successfully submarined them past me and now you trying to convince people you actually want to fight me with them? As if!

I can make sure that all the doubles comp results are with you by the time you are in a possition to look at ways to include them.
Well, best to send them to Martin right now then. He seems to get a bit light-headed anyway.

Don't forget there was a problem maybe a year back following a server upgrade where some of the forum data got lost - did that impact this?

Is it still possible to look at the old files or backups to find any that have inadvertently got lost?
I've never deleted anything from the HoH here (http://www.fieldofglory.com/hallofhonour.html) and I doubt anyone else did. I don't know if there are separate backups somwhere, Ian should be able to tell us that.
Anyway, since the results in the old HoH are in JPG format I also checked if there is such an image for Devizes 2009, in case the link got dropped somehow, there isn't. So I'm pretty certain the Devizes 2009 results have never been in the HoH on the FoG Page. Maybe you saw the results somewhere else?
No. I remain certain that they were on the HoH on fieldofglory.com, because I have looked at them there several times. (Sad, but true). Note that the .jpg may be called "Attack" or possibly "Age of Darkness".

Ah well, perhaps Hammy will send them to you, along with all the other missing ones.

Karsten

Thanks for fixing the country stuff, loks much better now. If I get to Britcon, I can see Ian M as my target (unless FoGR is out by then...)

One other thing.

In the unknown you may have a rogue row.

'
Millenium XII (USA) am 06.11.2009 (click here for details)
played by achieved over 4 rounds 0 points, claiming place 0 among 18 competitors.
'

Seems not to have been used by a player.

If that was removed, along with Tim's, it would take unknown to 82 uses.

Hope that helps.

One thing I've noticed, is that you seem to have blocked the URL changing. For example, if you go from the rankings page to the forum, the URL remains http://www.slitherine.com/files/fog/rankings.html

This is both Safari and FF on a Mac.

A little digging produced:

Usk 2009

http://www.fieldofglory.com/godendag2009.html

Devizes 2009

http://www.fieldofglory.com/attack2009.html

Perhaps there are others that have also failed to make the transfer to the new HoH.

I have no idea when/if/how anything would have beeen deleted and there is no way to check. It is possible but pretty unlikely.

They haven't been deleted, they are still there - see above - but they haven't been transferred to the new Hall of Honour.

Sorry if I failed to comprehend that no doubles tournaments have been included in the new Hall of Honour as yet. I thought that only applied to the rankings.

Wow, took me a while to figure out how you even got there. There should not be a way to the "unknown" Army details page (mostly as it's (naturally) missing some key data to be shown properly). You are right though, we accidently introduces a ghostplayer (should have been the umpire). It's going to be fixed shortly.

Yes you are right it's in there, but I've been scanning the listing for "Devizes", not for "Age of Darkness - Attack! Devizes 2009"
Godendag 2009 is in the list as well, but sorry, you expect a bit much from me if you assume I can make the connection Godendag = Usk. So small wonder I couldn't find it. :)

Can I assume that Ian MacIntosh is the same as Ian McIntosh???
Then I will consolidate the results as well

It's actually a bit more complex then that, but it has been fixed as far as possible, thanks.

As for the two Ian Ms, probably would need someone from the BHGS to tell you that. According to their membership records there is only one of that name. If you want I can e-mail him off list and get him to confirm if he entered the tourneys listed?

What is the theoretical range of the ELO scores?

i.e. at the moment they range from 1374 - 1953. Is there a theoretical maximum?

Dave

I can understand why you are interested in the theoretical minimum, but on whose behalf are you asking about the maximum? :+

I am working on checking this one out.

In theory, there is no minimum or maximum.
But due to the setup, it will be hard for a player with a very high ELO to get much more points.
If the ELO-difference between 2 players is higher than 798 points, the better player will not win any more points from the worse player, even when beeting him 25:0.
This will stop the value from grow to infinite.
As the ELO-calculation is more or less taken from Chess, I do not assume somebody to grow over 2500, but we will see
