Greetings Gentlemen

The excellent HOML is nearing it's end, until the next one, probably early April

The great news is that The Divisional Championships has started recruiting and will begin 7th January.

Which means, you can jump straight into another tournament.

The link is https://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=683

Scrolling down, you can see the "entries topics" and the rules.

So far Bronze and Iron Age has 19 players, Classical 27, Imperial 20, Dark Ages 20, Early Medieval 22 and Late Medieval 20.

Final date for entries is 2nd January.

Cheers

Division A

Kroche Chinese (Han) defeats Aetius39 (Indian) 12% loss to 53 % loss

Indians made early advance through the centre but were stopped by Chinese line with light artillery doing well. Chinese were strong on the left wing which defeated the Indian screen and turned into the Indian centre units from behind.

Indians failed to cause enough disruptions and were a bit soft when attacked.

Maybe I can get them to work on improving that when under my command in the mirror?..

GG

Division A

Aetius (Han) defeats Kroche (Indians) 49-16

Same story as the first game, Indians couldn't disrupt enough and the few elephants couldn't stop the weak archers from being overwhelmed. GG!

Rafydedel (Chinese sui 582 bc) defeats aetius39 (goguryeo 590) 66-54

I must say I am not much at ease with the medium infantry of this mod, and neither was my opponent, and as a result, both armies mutually annihilated.

Division A

Aetius (Tang) defeats BobGanoush (Tibetan) 58-30

Similar result in both games, where the superior but less numerous Tibetans were slowly surrounded, flanked, and routed. GG!

Division B

angusosborne (Northern Zhao) defeats Hari72 (Southern Dynasties - Chen) 52-25

I attempted a Karvon-esque deployment of hiding my entire army except for a LH unit and it worked! Sprang an ambush on one flank and got the matchups I wanted in the big scrap in the middle.

Not quite a big enough win to pass Ray552, but it's been a really fun competition. Thanks very much for running it tyronec, and congratulations to Ray552

I'm looking for some feedback for what periods to run in HOML 6.

Thinking of three options:
A. Revert to two periods, Ancients and Medieval.
B. Repeat of Season 5; Ancients, Medieval & Silk Road
C. Three periods again; Ancients, Medieval & Game of Thrones.

I have played a few games of the Game of Thrones mod, both SP and MP, and think it brings in some fun armies. It is not an approved mod (I think because of copyright) but SickeyMcgee has done a great job with both working out the lists and the in figurines.
You can download it from this thread:

We would be using Ver 1.5 plus 1.5c with Snugglebunnies updated costings. It is simple enough to download and just copy into the games library, doesn't effect play of the game in any other way as it is just another set of army lists. There is more to do than downloading an approved mod which you can do in game.
Withe HOML we would use only GoT armies against each other, Smickey says some of the armies are a little unbalanced but that is not an such issue with the mirror matches.

I will only run Silk Road or GoT if there looks to be enough demand for them, would want to get three or more divisions.

I played the GOT mod in the very early days (so early that I hadn't even started taking over making the Silk Road mod yet). It didn't look like there was much to choose from in GOT's content back then, so maybe it's been updated since then?

I also started reading the Chinese versions of the Song of Ice and Fire novels around that time, so I'm really looking forward to seeing them in the next HOML.

That would be very interesting. Iam wondering if anybody has looked at possible armies converted from Hyborea to FOG II, Ancient, Medieval and maybe a few Silk Road. There is a DBM lis of these armies. My other suggestion could be an Ancient, Medieval and historical scenarios. The latter would have to be playtested so that both armies may have a chance of winning

I enjoyed Silk Road, and I'm not excited about GOT mod (although I am a GOT fan). However I probably won't enter three periods next time

Thanks for hosting this tournament, and thanks for developing and promoting these mods.
I was impressed by the work done on Silk Road (despite that I performed poorly with these armies).

I vote for having either Silk Road or GOT, it s great to promote these mods with a tournament.

I do not know GoT, but I trust your judgement, so happy to try GoT next time.

Thanks to Tyrone for hosting, and I would be up for either Silk Road or GoT (of which I know very little), [edit] with Ancients and Medieval.
