Very fun couple of games!

Morat (Lusitanians) defeats nyczar (Numidians) 58-33: score 87-33

Early exchanges between thousands of light troops on both sides went in favour of the Numdians, who skilfully drew the Lusitanians onto their heavy foot.

Low hills and woods on the left were exploited by the Lusitanian mediums, who broke the Numdian irregulars and managed to start to find a few flanks on the heavy infantry. On the right the Lusitanians managed to fend off mixed heavy cavalry, light cavalry and skirmishers with only a few casualties.

In the end, numbers told. Seemingly infinite numbers of Lusitanian mediums managed to overwhelm their foes.

Thanks to nyczar for a fun game, played in a great spirit.

Bosporan cavalry was quickly defeated by the Antigonid, but as this fight brought the cavalry units away from the rest of the troops, Bosporan were able to inflict enough casualties to their opponent to claim back victory. Thanks to Deeter for a very disputed game.

Morat (Romans) defeats Mr Cholo (Ptolemaic) 42-17 Score 103-17

One of those games where nothing went right for the Ptolemaics. The Phalanxes positioned themselves expertly to avoid early and damaging flank attacks and skillful use of their elephant made life difficult for the Romans - who had to expose both flanks to get at their foes. But the legionaries stubbornly held on, and cut though the phalanxes to record the win.

Thanks to Mr Cholo for the game - which was much tighter than the score suggests.
