Thank god I did not question something major in the rules, I would be burned at the stake.
Lots of people on here question things in the rules, and they get discussed reasonably, without anyone getting "burned at the stake". But here you are saying something is wrong and needs to be corrected, yet most people don't agree with you and have no trouble using the QRS as it is.

It seems to me that you made a mistake understanding how to read a table (which is fine - many people new to a game like FOG can't always understand aspects of the rules). But what I still can't understand is now that you know how the table is supposed to be read, why can't you just read it the correct way and use the table you have. It's really not that difficult - why give it a try and see how you get on with it.

It's never nice to bring up DBM when discussing FoG :).

Oh, you weren't meaning DBM  ... my mistake

YOU guy are all right and I am wrong (see that's how I stayed married).
I (if I wrote a set of rules) would want all charts to look the same QRS or otherwise. Color me blond. If a 2.0 FOG is released I will not buy it just becasue the chart is fixed. Unless I have spilled more beer/water/pop on the rules and the pages are now trashed. But again that's me.

I did have to study to be promoted 2000+ pages oral interviews blah, blah blah. So before you start thinking me getting promoted says something about the fire service, think again. I did learn a few things from my 3 promotion exam:

1: The sun shines on a turd once and a while.
2: After the testing was over if they would have offered a captains test I would have told them to shove it
3: out of the 18 who took the promotion exam I finished 1st. So I am not the dumbest rock, just play one on TV

If we can keep this thread going for 4 pages then there is definitely a problem.

The problem is not necessarily the QRS though.

Okay here is page 5.

You guys are missing the point.
I like the QRS. Before I jump into a ruleset I see how complex the QRS is. There was a set that had a flow chart for company deployment. And this was a Brigade level game! So I did not buy them.

But I do like my QRS sheets neat and to the point and as few pages as possible so not to confuse the new guy or the mildly buzzed ref/experianced player. So I never, ever wanted to kill the QRS. It is my thoughts on it. That's all.

Good:
Love the page number near each chart which makes looking up questions easy.
Layout is in a sensible order as game plays.
Little helful charts (auto break)

Eh,
Lose the pictures and make it 2 pages if possible.

Things I don't like
No simple turn sequence
Chart does not match the one in the middle of the book..
now I know nothing was to be changes or will be changed. I will change it. Now I know why I have not done a tourny since 1979. Well Have to go suns up and my fly rod is calling me.

This is a great and useful thread. While we are all here, perhaps someone could help with finding figures for some mounted Lapp scouts.

Should they be on elk or reindeer?

While it would be possible to fit the chart on 2 sides I suspect that the vast majority of gamers would find that he resulting text is too small I know I did and my eyesight is better than many. Yes you could lose the pictures but it would not give enough space, trust me I tried.

A simple turn sequence is not IMO worth having on the QRS. A full turn sequence would be great but it is already in the rules and as 4 sides was really an upper limit it didn't make the cut. It would have been possible perhaps to put Impact, Move, Shoot, Melee, Joint Action as a list of phases but what use is that once you have played the game once? Remember this is a Quick reference sheet and not a condensed version of the rules.

As for matching the chart in the middle of the rules again it would have been very difficult or at the very least aesthetically poor to have made an exact copy of the middle of the rules. There are several lines of text in some of the boxes in the rules, having that on the QRS loooked messy, the final version is IMO much tidyer.

There are if you want them several other player created FoG reference sheets that can be downloaded. Perhaps one of these will be more what you are looking for.

You are prefectly entitled to your opinion, nobody is saying you are a herertic because you don't like the current QRS. As to changes to the QRS there may well be one to fix the error with Heavy chariots and light spear but beyond that I can't say.

Thank you for the not insulting and for the most part answers to my questions. I bow to you.
I will now go on a "quest" looking for diffrent QRS charts. Unitl then I will het a ruler and a fineline ink pen and draw lines across and put little + in each of them. It seems I have my answers.

Now, weather is good, tied some new flys and my Rod is calling. Unitl I have a new question that can't be answered by high die roll gets his way,

Have fun,
Irondog

I think you may not be taking this serious... as you should know the Lapp army is coming out in the book 'Whiter than Snow' later this year

There is no graver topic than the realism and modelling of Lapp scouts mounted on elk or reindeer.

Principally because FoG has no "Lone Psiloi" to debate and no "Floating ZoD"

I guess it would be too much to ask to get a diagram of the "Elbows of Death" and some accompanying text justifying why it was necessary to leave those out of FoG added to the QRS?

WHY can't I leave this thread ALONE? I guess it was a bad week to give up amphetamines....
