Have you written a PM to MarcoCato75, challenging him, and received acceptance by way of return PM? If not, please do and wait for response.

Hi Andreas,

I cannot see myself listed on the table on page one.
Am I OK to issue challenges to those above me?
I'm assuming I'm starting at the bottom.

Hi Stew. Sorry about that: I was totally sure I had updated table (but maybe did in wrong league...)

Anyway, welcome again and the table in first post is updated now, with you at the bottom starting with Indian army. So you're good to go challenging players up to three places above (or below, when that time comes) you. Enjoy!

The following main changes to the rules have been made:
  • You can be involved in maximum one ongoing game (per section) at any point in time (whether as challenger or challenged).
    • So if you're already challenged, you cannot make your own challenge.
    • And if you have made a challenge, you cannot be challenged by someone else or make a new challenge.
  • Challenges shall be posted in the forum thread (for all to see) (not by way of PM anymore), with full details in a standardised format.
  • The challenged player shall accept or decline the challenge by replying with quote to the challenger's post in the forum thread (so that it's clear to all which challenge being answered to).
  • The challenger shall still report the results, immediately after the game has been concluded, but now in a standardised format.
Now, I strongly urge you to familiarise yourselves with the updated full set of rules HERE, since life will be much easier for everyone if everybody can follow them.

And always check the first and fourth posts to keep yourselves updated on the current situation. Plus the latest posts of the thread to see new challenges, concluded games, etc.

For 300 BC specifically, Captainwaltersavage, kronenblatt, SawyerK, and Wellsonian all have two ongoing games each, so no challenges involving them until both their games has been concluded, reported, and reflected.

Thanks!

Thanks for report: so you switch not only, as always, armies (Rhoxolani 350 BC - 24 AD vs. Ptolemaic 320-218 BC) but also places (14 vs. 11). First and fourth posts updated.

ericdoman1 can now challenge or be challenged, whereas SawyerK still needs to conclude his game with Wellsonian before he's available to do that.

Hi all,

My bottom of the table Indians issue a challenge to SawyerK , who if I understand the rules correctly should be fielding Rhoxolani 350 BC - 24 AD next.

Hope that's correct.
Rgds Stew.

Let me put that in the correct format:

Stew101 Indian 550 BC - 319 AD challenges SawyerK Rhoxolani 350 BC - 24 AD.

Hi Andreas

11. ericdoman1 Ptolemaic 320-218 BC
challenges
9. tyronec Roman 340-281 BC

I know that tyronec and Wellsonian are involved in games but I have 2 games ongoing with deeter so I don't think we would want to have another battle.

Hope that's OK
Don't think I am permitted to accept your challenge as already have an active game.

Hi T and Andreas

Well let's say it's a reserved challenge once you have finished.

That is an interesting suggestion.
You will only be able to challenge me if I lose the ongoing game. However since the challenging player gets to post the result then they can always challenge again, if there is a target available, before anyone else gets a chance to challenge them.
Is there a case for saying that challengers must leave 24 hours after they post the result before they can make another challenge, to give someone else to have a chance to get a challenge in.

Good idea. Let's do that. I'll update the rules with a 24 hour-waiting period for challengers.

And no challenges can be reserved. Challenges can be neither stored nor put on a waiting list or in a backlog, etc.

Sorry Eric, no reserved challenges allowed. Rules already state:

Challenges can be neither stored nor put on a waiting list or in a backlog, etc.

Addition to the rules:
  • A player must wait 24 hours after having posted the result of a game (in which he was the challenger) before being allowed to make a new challenge.

This is in order to give other players some time and chance to make challenges, but at the same time we wouldn't want to keep that waiting period too long since active players should be encouraged.

Please also note that this rule already in place:
  • Challenges can be neither stored nor put on a waiting list or in a backlog, etc.
