MikeMarchant's Seleucids (24/29) beat Mchargmg's Romans (38/36)

A titanic truggle that saw both Roman flanks enveloped before the Romans restored order on their right and threatened to flank the Seleucid centre. With the Seleucids already well to the Roman rear from the Roman left, the centre crumbled in time for the Seleucids to turn to meet the Roman threat to their own rear. A close game that could have gone either way, and a game that was great fun to play all the way through. If the Roman legionaries had shown the backbone they were famous for this battle would have gone the other way, but on this day, on this field, they were more vitrified than victorious.

Thanks for the game, Geoff, a pelasure, as always.

Best Wishes

Mike

Hidde, yes, it ended due to the turn limit. Voskarp retreated most of his troops behind the river. I caught some, but not enough for victory. A wandering minstrel happened to be in the vicinity, and wrote a ballad of the battle ... :) :P

When danger reared its ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled.
Yes, brave King Voskarp turned about
And gallantly he chickened out.

Bravely taking to his feet,
He beat a very brave retreat.
Bravest of the braaaave, King Voskarp!

PeterGuest's Khazars defeat MikeMarchant's Byzantines, 15/36 vs 34/34

A new map with a river running through it and a handily placed wood. Not a fat lot Mike could do once the Khazars decided to sit and wait - mind you, a storming effort by the Byzantines to cross the river at the end!

MikeMarchant's Early Imperial Romans (29/31 )beat Boores Late Republican Romans (25/25)

A close match all the way through, and a nailbiting finish. This could as easily have been a win for Boores as for me, but the gods were with me on this day.

Thanks for the game, Boores, and bad luck.

Challenge for Epicouros pw "epic"

Turns out that bringing a horse-only army to a division bristling with pikes is like bringing a knife to a gun-fight. Oh well, roll on more men with pointy sticks...

MikeMarchant's hapless Cypriots (33/35) managed to beat Gamercb's Castillians (37/36).

But only by cowering on a hill and making the Spaniards do all the work. Even then it was such a close end that neother Colin nor I had any idea who would prevail.

Thanls for the game, Colin, it was a thriller.

Greyhunter (HYW English, Britain early 1320-1350) 35/32 Draws against VanDerAalf (Later Serbian, Early) 38/33

A close match, with to many fragged units in contact - I won, but then had to resolve all my fragged, and it came out a draw. Well played mate. I'm calling it a win as you lost 38% of your forces and I only lost 30% ;)

(Yes, I have a spreadsheet with all 354 completed multiplayer games on it. current win percentage - 23.37%, counting draws as half a win. )

These tables will help you identify which players you still have to play and they will tell you which matches we have received results for (at the time these tables are first posted). Just find your name in the left-hand column and read across the page to see your points won - empty boxes mean that we have not received a result for that match. These charts will also tally with the latest league tables posted in the results thread.
