So minesweeper trait is better than minekiller? Good detective work, I often wondered why there were 2 traits and what the difference was. Thanx for the info, maybe it's not possible to make one unit better at mine clearing than others as I'm sure traits are hardcoded and not modable. Too bad. :(

Indeed... a "minesweeper" unit will clear the minefield in one turn, notwithstanding the minefield strenght value, a "minekiller" one will slowly clean it up (normally by one unit per turn). So you CAN mod a unit which can be good at clearing mines and not so good at atacking other units...
Example, you can mod a "switchable" mine pioniere unit:
Switch 1: Regular Pioniere (use the regular stock game icon) the unit will be good to attack entrenched infantry enemy units, forts, etc... ("fortkiller" trait can be modded in this state of the unit).
Switch 2: Mine-clearing Pioniere (use the new icon by Asuser) you can change the stats values of this state of the unit reducing its hard and soft attack numbers, but giving it the "minesweeper" trait... That would mean that when the Pioniere tools up to clear a minefield, they are no so well equipped to combat other units...

And yes, I think that the mine related trait effects are hard-coded and cannot be modded... Too bad! I would really like the minefields to be treated as "regular" units and to be able to tweak its effectiveness in causing damage to enemy units, or resisting clearing efforts by them...

I hope I could be clear in transmiting the concept of a "switchable" pioniere / mine-clearing unit...

Best wishes!

A switchable pioneer/minesweeper unit :o ?? Fantastic. That would be an awesome unit indeed and is what I was hoping for, but an awesome unit such as that should be expensive, right?

Now, the turn for a classic, revisited and fully renewed... By public demand, further work was made on the Tiger I tank!
As the replacement icon for the Tiger I was so popular, Asuser and I decided it was worthy to dedicate some more effort to try to improve it...
So, you will not have one Tiger I but two icons for that tank. Let me explain: as my friend skills continue to improve, he can take on more and more nice projects, and decided to super-detail the Tiger icon, as a result you have one icon for the early made Tiger I and another, visually identifiable for the late made Tiger I.
Ther main differences are:

- Tiger early version: some detail added, for example the ammo reloading hatch on the turret side, and the engine compartment cover was greatly improved. The icon now is shown in all it glory!

- Tiger late version: a lot of new detail added
- New roadwheels (the real tank used the ones from the King Tiger tank, which were different from the original Tiger I wheels
- Different engine cover (also, it desing was altered during the production run).
- Added some track links hang from the turret side as a means of additional protection (which meant a change of the position of the iron cross insignia to the hull side).
- Added an anti-aircraft machine gun.

Another detail, not visible in the icon, but an important one is that the late Tigers had a grenade launcher mounted on the turret roof, that could be fired and recharged from inside the turret (a close defense weapon), so it is safe to give a higher close defense value to this late version of the tank compared to the earlier one.

All in all, two very nice icons, which look as "brothers" but can be readilty identified as different units. All due credit to Asuser, and thanks to him for sharing the result of his skills with us all here! The detail put on those icons are truly amazing!
8) -

First, the Tiger I (Early) Pack... Which includes the base icon and mask for the DCS, and also (which I think was missing) an Allied captured unit... Enjoy!

Stan23: Yes, it would be reasonable enough to give this "multipurpose" unit a higher cost, but not much, remember that the stock game pioniere are "minesweepers" also...

Hi Guille,

the problem with the hanging engine nacelles can really only explain this: The aircraft has an imaginary central axis (marked in red) that is parallel to the ground. This central axis has two intersection points at the bow and at the stern of the aircraft. Extends parallel to the lower edge of the engine nacelle. But this changes when the plane is in the air and flying with a certain angle. This angle can be changed by the pilot with help of a so called trim wheel and the hereby controlled trim rudders. That is, when the trimmed aircraft pilot has engaged a specific neutral position in which the aircraft is flying without a rudder modification. The pilots have different preferences here (higher or lower nose set or adjustment for the main weapon). This specific fighter plane thing you can read in famous books like “My war diary from H.U.Rudel” – famous Stuka Pilot or “The blond knight of Germany” – E.Hartmann famous Fighter Pilot. That is the main point, depending on the angle of axis, why the inclination of the lower edge of the engine nacelle is changed. You'll also be able to recognize the powerful 5 cm gun. In ground view this is directed steeply upward in the air rather horizontally. To explain I have attached your beautiful pictures with the drawn centerline. The other extreme is to see on pictures, where the underline of the engine nacelle is straight upward if the plane stands at muddy landing zones. I hope I could contribute something to the enlightenment.

Impressive improvements on the Tiger!
The engine compartment is a lot sharper, the gun barrel with muzzle break more detailed, and my sorrows about the missing roadwheel shadow cured!
There is only one disturbing matter on the late Tiger: why red-brown tracks on the turret? Rather black-grey would look properly.

Thanks, already implementing the Tigers into my game now!

Indeed, the engine compartment has beemn vastly improved... About the track links colour... this was meant to show a rusted look (and to be more visible, by the way), but there will be no problem to transform them to grey color. I will make a pack for the late Tiger with that small change, free of charge! :-)

Ok, here is the late version of the Tiger I, with unpainted and unrusted tarck links on the turret side! Maybe some of the forum members prefer to use this version of the icon. Your choice!
Enjoy this game! 8)

Wow T2_2112,

very nice UI pictures! Do you have some special software for this like Google 3D sketch or so? Now the Tiger pack completed!

Additional tip for Horst: If you paint the rusted Track links- Late version with DCS, you get a little overspray effect (because DCS can't paint colored areas so well) on the Track links.

For the Elefant i made first also a UI Picture from a model photo, T2_2112 please check the Pimp thread these days.

Greetings!

Yes! Very nice images for making the big portraits for the Tiger I early and late production variants! For your information, the big units portraits should be in 256 x 256 pixel size, in .png format, and the shadows (just as in the map icons) should be made in semi-translucent black color...

Here are the good images posted by T2_2112, which I tried to give the formatting used by the game...
I hope they are Ok! Thanks T2_2112! Now, we can say that the Tiger "reloaded" pack is complete!

Enjoy! 8)

Guille, your tracks still look too bluish to me. The MG on top is also too rusty. Here's a preview how I like it more with my rubbish gimp skills. All tracks have the same color.

Hello stan23,

a little update of the Mine Pioniere (page 29) is available. Any new ideas or go to finish?

Greetings!

Has someone here already created a unit with three modes, like the Italian 90/53 M41 with AA, AT and Arty switch?
The game crashes when I give both the AT and Aty mode the NoPurchase trait and switch from AA to AT (next one would be Aty) in the game.
Giving e.g. the AT mode only NoPurchase works fine together with Aty mode. Luckily, I figured out that it won't crash if I additionally add the Primary trait together with the NoPurchase one to Aty mode.
Can someone confirm that? I hope it didn't sound so confusing like it actually is.

Hello stan23,

the Mine Pioniere (page 29) are finished with the shadows. Hopefully you are also satisfied!

The second unit (switchable) could now be made with a more aggressive style, mine or explosive charge laying boys for sabotage or ambush duty.

Let's see what's possible...

Greetings!
