A tough battle where the action took place mostly on a hill in the middle of the map. The knights of St. John fought valiantly in the face of the pikemen's charge long enough to allow their cavalry to inflict considerable damage in their flank and rear. Finally, the French cavalry was able to tip the balance with the remaining infantry able to decide a very open fight.

I thank my opponent for this exciting battle.

Morat (Sarmatians/German Foot tribes) beat SawyerK (Palmyran) 42-9

Sarmatians crossed a low stream to envelop the Palmyran right, with the warbands holding the left and centre. In one of those games where absolutely nothing went right for the Palmyrans the Sarmatian horse managed to get round the flank and cause significant damage while the warbands just held off the legions.

Thanks to SawyerK for the game - the score does not do justice to the fight the Palmyran army put up.

Div A

Morat (German/Polish) beat Warg1 (Arab Conquest) 60-39

Plain between two thick forests saw the key action, Arab envelopment of the German left flank stalled with the timely arrival of some light lancers, and the right flank saw a good contest between small forces of horse.

The battle was decided in the centre, where the German heavy foot just (just) got the upper hand on their foes. Good fight back by the Arab forces closed the gap, but the Germans did enough to hold on for the win.

Thanks to Warg1 for a good fight - played in the great spirit.

Even with their infantry up in the hills and supported by artillery, the Poles could not resist the thrust of the pikemen supported by archers. The Polish cavalry made flanking attempts but were stopped by the French knights and other cavalry and light units at the cost of losing some units.

Lynx57 (French and aragonese) defeats heidipie (Irish 1260-1319) 47-21

The outnumbered French knights, surrounded by fierce Irish, succeeded in avoiding a daring flanking maneuver by few furious charges.

A fun battle between 2 similar warband based armies.

Both right flanks advanced aggressively and the Bithynians had the early advantage. Once the main battle lines engaged, the battle degenerated into chaos and it was only the Gallic cavalry and some Bithynian bad luck that brought about a hard earned victory.
