Ironclad (Arab Conquest 638-684 AD) defeated phlewis (German 888-932 AD) 44-19

A central zone of rough terrain and woods divided the battlefiled into two separate arenas. One saw a close cavalry battle where the outnumbered Arabs fought a lengthy defending action helped by restricting woods to avoid being overwhelmed by their German opponents. The other including the adjoining rough witnessed a fierce infantry action where the Arabs held the overall advantage and were ultimately successfull in achieving the final victory just as the German cavalry were on the verge of defeating their weakened foes. Great fight, thanks.

Vadim84 Arab conquest wins against Garokan Franc/Viking, 59-34

A fierce battle fought on very flat ground with no forest. Quick, intense, and fun. Just when the Frank cavalry seemed to get the upper hand on the right wing of the Arab army, two outflanking on the opposite side of the battlefield overturned the Frank main line and led to victory.

A wide open battlefield with the only terrain of significance being a reasonably big patch of rough going right in the middle, which proved decisive. The French attacked on the right of the rough going, sent crossbowmen and almughavars into it and withdrew from the left to form an L shape.

It always seems to me to be a mistake to form your army on the inside of a corner and this proved to be true here. Shooting into the French medium foot weakened them and I got Baltic foot and spearmen into flanks to break through. Meanwhile my left flank collapsed abruptly with a bit of panic and a dead general, but we pushed through the centre and held the left edge long enough to win on the right with superior numbers

Ironclad (Arab Conquest 638-684 AD) defeated Indibil (Byzantine 988-1041) 60-57

A game which saw the Byzantines dominating the opening stages as they showered the Arabs with arrows and disengaged from close combat on the few occasions when their frustrated opponents managed to close. The Arabs sought to regain some initiative by advancing their whole army towards the opponents left flank only to have their leading cavalry wing decimated and their left flank cavalry suffered a similar fate when the Byzantines heavy cavalry caught up.

A lone cavalry success which took out several enemy units in a single repeated charge finally saw the Arabs begin to narrow. the gap. With close order engagements increasing the Arabs came back into contention and the final stages saw a frenzied interplay as both sides looked to squeeze tactical advantage for victory. The Arabs finally just managed to achieve this but the result could have gone either way or to a draw. Great fight, thanks to Indibil.
