Thanks
Thanks - my favourite opponents, not.
As defender you get to choose the terrain between agricultural and hilly so which do you prefer?
Agricultural will be fine, suits us both.
Thanks. Challenge up, pw Montrose.

Hilly please. The battle results are from the previous turn, admin error on my part; apologies. At airport currently, will examine the points question when I get to France later.

Game for Ironclad has been created, password "whippets".
Adding 100 points forced the map to Wide, so to keep within the stated parameters of Medium, instead I dropped my army by 100 points.
Hope this is acceptable, if not I can recreate.

I don't mind although you are disadvantaging yourself. The increased size that results when 1300 triggers Wide can be reduced back to 32 by 32 using the advanced field adjustments just like the army points are changed.

A travelled and blood stained cavalier has just arrived from the battlefield with news of a glorious victory over the rascally cropheaded Parliamentarians who ventured to invade the Royalist North East. Doyley50, Royalist,22. Iandavidsmith, Parliamentarian, 47.
While in the centre the Regiments of Foote fought it out among the hedgerows, on the Royalist left flank there was a confused battle between horse and foot in and around a large wood, and on the right was a vigorous cavalry action. General iandavid smith and his troops fought hard, and the outcome was very much in doubt until some Parliamentary infantry regiments became shaken and then broke, causing general consternation among the rest of the Roundhead foot, and the day was won.
God save the King!
And thanks Ian for the battle!

Ironclad holds the North West. 45/12 +33% I think.
He had a slight advantage in numbers, but as my old Puritan preacher uncle used to say, it's not how big it is, it's where you put it.
He was a pretty rubbish Puritan.

Better news in the Highlands though. The Scots hold out against Doyley50 58/33 +25%. A glorious Parliamentary victory!
Thanks for the game.

Just wondering why you think the parliament can't use bonus pt's in the south west using the linked friendly-controlled region at 50% value rule ? I am missing something
The South West isn't a friendly region for Parliament. My reading of the rules is to use points in enemy territory the source region for the points needs to be adjacent to the enemy target.
Ironclad is correct though the wording may be a bit woolly:
Points can be used to increase army strength to a maximum of +200 for any one region. If used in the region that gave the bonus, they may be deployed at the start of the battle, otherwise Reinforcements should be chosen. Points can be 'donated' to other regions as follows:
- adjacent friendly-controlled region at 100% value
- adjacent enemy-controlled or neutral region at 50% value
- linked friendly-controlled region at 50% value (i.e. a path of friendly regions can be followed without having to cross enemy or neutral territory)
South West is currently controlled by the Royalists so is not eligible for 'remote reinforcements' as it is not adjacent to a Parliamentary region donating the points.

e.g. My games were
A win vs Cavehobbit in Central-West. (14% to 45%).
A defeat vs Aryaman in mid-East (58% to 32%).
Results post now fixed with correct image!

deadtorius wrote:I think there is something wrong with your challenge, it shows force size custom 1300-1080 while as we both have +100 points should be on a pair. Besides, as defending player I select terrain and I select agricultural, not hilly.
You could be correct I am working on confusion here and saw something about extra points in the chart so set it up as that. I will delete the game and wait to see what the final ruling is before I go back to trying to set it up again.
Keyth you are going to have to tell me how to set up our game as I really have no idea what the points should be and I guess its going to be agricultural??

Sorry, I should have caught this at the point the orders were received but things were slightly hectic at the time - my apologies. As mentioned above, the rules do not permit a 50% reinforcement for Parliament in the South West. As this is my error, are the players concerned and CiCs happy to have the challenge happen at standard points (1200 each) and both factions carry over 100 bonus points (with no reductions) to next turn? As other challenges have started (and in some cases finished), it is difficult to re-assign the points in this turn.
I am happy to hear any other suggestions for a fair and balanced outcome.
