This battle was a bloodbath. At one time Fudwuppel was behind by as much as 21% but clawed back into contention. The battle ended with one mighty
skirmish that determined the final outcome.
Congratulations, Ander. You played well.

Division D
vakarr (Thracian (Getae) 279 BC - 46 AD with Triballi (350 BC - 46 AD) ) defeated DirtyMark(Roman 24 BC-196 Ad with Armenian 331 BC - 252 AD)
Scores were Thracians 14 and Romans 43
The Thracians were holding a range of hills and the Romans came on manfully, confident of being able to push off the poorly armoured barbarians with their mostly average moral - the tops of the hills were basically clear of even rough terrain. The Armenian cataphracts took the Roman left and came on with similar confidence, given the Thracians had nothing that could match them. On their right, the Romans placed their other cavalry.
However despite almost the entire Roman army being graded superior or better, they could not get past the barbarians. The Thracians saw an opportunity on the Roman right, where some of the cavalry was actually of inferior morale. The Thracians had planned to cower in a nearby wood, but instead marched out in full force, confident that the use of a hoplite unit would make up for the numbers in cavalry. They were able to outflank the Romans and the Roman cavalry, light cavalry, and auxilia collapsed very suddenly. The Praetorians smashed through the hoplites in the centre, but were held up long enough for it not to make a difference. The hills and woods on the Roman left held up the cataphracts, who had no luck against Thracians spears and rhomphias, after some hidden Thracian cavalry worked their way around them. A great game, I really thought all those superior legionaries were going to steamroll over the hill but it turned out that the medium warbands, especially the superior "picked" warbands, were quire resilient.
