Vadim84 (Montjoie) vs Kroche (Armchair Heroes)

Draw, 59-57.

Very exciting game, Kroche tried to lay a trap by taking advantage of a wood on his left side. I had to manoeuvre carefully before the main engagement started. Had a good start, then he had some breakthroughs on my right and took the upper hand but a glorious cavalry charge took two of his husklars and disrupted a third one, thus greatly unbalancing his central infantry line.

Could have snatch a victory in the very last turn but am very happy with the draw. Great game and see you next tourney!

Montjoie scores 59 pts, Armchair Heroes 57 pts

Victory for Vadim84 (Montjoie) against Gdod (Herd of Kiwis), 62-35

Map favoring defensive play with a hill in the middle, closer to my starting position so I could take it over. Gdod decided to attack on my left, which was certainly the best place for an offensive so I was actually also planning to attack on this side. The other wing was for my cav, who managed to prevent his attack and I could manage to outnumber him on the left by transferring unit from center-right to the left. Good, fun battle, thanks for the game!

Each team is drawn against one other team.
Each match-up has 4 individual matches or (FoGII Games), one battle for each Period.

The rules are here https://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=112674

Either player may initiate a match by posting a challenge in the appropriate (Group) thread in the competition forum and by sending a PM to their opponent. Challenges may be issued now if both players agree, the rules for prompt play will still be applied. Battles are to be completed by 16th November.

All matches will select "Open Battle" for the scenario type.
All battles will use 1200-point armies’, players will choose
• a “Medium" army
• a “Medium" battlefield,
• Potluck terrain
• 24 turns

If a match is set-up incorrectly for any reason, then it must be re-started as soon as possible.

Both players must agree to re-start a match within the first three turns if they believe the terrain is likely to produce a sterile match or a draw. The maximum number of re-starts permitted for a single match is two.

For the KO stages we will use the old Digital League system

4 points - for a win where the losing player has not scored 50% or more.
3 points - for a marginal win where the losing player has scored 50% or more.
2 points - for a tie where both players score 60% or more, or for a draw where a player has scored at least 25%
1 point - for a marginal defeat where the losing player has scored 50% or more.
0 points - where a player has not scored 25% or more.
To win a game a player must always “rout” the opponent’s army. A "rout" occurs when an army breaks and 60% of its original troops are routed or dispersed, or if 40-59% of its original troops are routed or dispersed and the opponent has lost at least 25% less.

If both teams have equal points at the end of each stage then the team who has won most games will go through. If still equal, the team with the better score difference/aggregate will go through. If still equal it will have to be a toss of the coin

Match up 1
Period 3

Kroche (Armchair Heroes) defeats GDod (Herd of Kiwis) 62-36

Tight affair which went 22 turns. Was level pegging the whole way through until GDod's right was routed after severe melee. GDod was strong in the centre, but did not get the rolls to convert this strength into a breakthrough. Skirmisher units fought against each other from the start and there were only two or three left standing across both sides at the end. GG
