It's in the rules but an outright victory is the difference between the scores + 60
So your example. 53 - 17, difference is 36 + 60 = 96 and so 96-17 it is identical to the scoring system used by Slitherine.
If it isn't an outright score. The score is not adjusted. So a 35 - 25 = 35 - 25

It was me. It is 8 clicks, probably about 4 or 5 seconds to have a 1400 vs 1400 point game with a 36 x 32 map. It also increases the minimums and maximums of troops available, compare 1200 to 1400. It means you now have 6 knights rather than say 5. I decided upon it and it was accepted by the remaining guys. We have the facility to have battles of 0 points (nope no idea why) up to 2000 points per side. Maps can be 16 to 64 width and 26 to 64 height. We mainly use 1200 vs 1200 and 32 x 32 maps or 1600 vs 1600 and 40 x 32 maps what would that be about 5% of what is available, I thought I'd make it about 8%:) Just something different. Also it is written in the rules. We expect all players to know and understand the rules and to accept them. Finally you are the only person so far who has mentioned it. So there is a possibility it may well be used in Season II. What about Later Medieval, always ruddy 1200 points:)
