An astonishing performance seeing as youngr has only had a secure internet connection since October 18th. So that is 8 wins out of 9 matches with his Samnite army in just over a week! Very well played Richard.

I am the only one to beat youngr so far and it wasn’t so easy.. it was one of his first games. We chatted and he didn’t at all think that he would win all those games. Incredible run really.. I also thought all the phalanx and elephant armies would be really tough for him! Well done!

Division B: oscarius (Roman 105-25BC) beats Morbio (Spanish, Sertorius 80-70BC) 53 - 28

Terrible luck in the Spainard centre allowed the Roman MF to quickly seize the middle while the legionary heavies pummeled the flanks and cavalry. Fun game though the die definitely fell in my favour.

Open ground was a mess for the romans, unfortunately is not so often to get it for the huns.

A well deserved congratulations. I really underestimated that Samnite army and with some terrain I thought was favorable, I expected my dudes would prevail. Unfortunately youngr had other ideas and they proved superior.

Hit and run by the Hunnic while the Palmyran tried to protect their archers. New for me so thanks for the experience.

I've been surprised by the efficiency of Samnites on the field, considering their lack of heavy troops. Under skilful hands, this army is really impressive. And I don't believe in luck: victory only goes to the ones who deserve it
I guess there will now be several players willing to try them next season (as far as I'm concerned, I'll try Seleucids again, they deserve better than what I've achieved with them this season- and I have some ideas to improve my results with this army - but obviously Samnites will be high in my selection !)
