Abbasids won initiative. The Byzantine horse archer screen was rapidly hustled back by the outflanking lancers, the Byzantines forced back to defend the large hill. The Latinikon knights did sterling work on impact, but there were too few of them, and too many holes, and eventually the Arabs managed to swamp the hill defences.

davouthojo (Palmyran) 32/43 vs 43/42 (Dominate Roman) Tiavals

The Romans won initiative, and picked a treacherous battlefield with patches of rough dotted all over it.
The Romans tried to envelop both sides of the Palmyran line,the Roman Cats routed the Palmyran cats, one flank got stuck, the other flank closed in for the kill...but the Veteran lerghionaries in the Palmyran centre were just able to punch through in time. Touch and Go game.

GB took a corner Defense and allowed ON to come to him. The thracians split and tried to attack from top and bottom to split the defense but the Heavy armour the Spartans wore stood up well against the MF of the Thracians. Score was fairly close and then the MF collapsed and the battle ended rather fast after that....The game was closer than the score indicated and Ozzie played very well.

Eric had the init

Well it was a savage clash of long spears in the centre. Armoured dismounted knights vs supeior arabs. My centre held for long enough as I was winning on my right due to the timely death of the Crusader flank general. Then the Crusader cinc commanding the centre bit the dust and a big hole appeared for my troops to push through. Ian tried to rally kis remnants, but all ended with a final cav charge on his right flank. Thanks to Eric for a much closer game than the score indicates.

Abbasid won initiative. The Visigoths set up behind a stream, the Arabs opposite. The Arabs pressed forwards, the Dailami racing up a steep hill to outflank the Visigoth left. The whole Visigoth line shifted away, the defensive spears and archers holding the stream, the cavalry going wide to the right flank. Unfortunately the stream did little to slow the Arab Impact MF, which despite some heroic archer stands managed to break the opposing infantry, making the cavalry skirmish a side-show.

macsen (Ipsos Alliance Successor) (20/40) vs JocaRamiro Late Republican Roman (Brutus & Cassius) 55 – 46 BC 39/38, macsen won iniative.

Joca was always suspicious of the woods on his left flank, but he was still surprised when after 13 turns all my Cavalry appeared out of the woods and fell on his rear, just as he was redeploying to the right to get around the flank of my pikes who were deployed on a ridge.

Bailey won the initiative in this Roman civil war. Interesting battle where both main cavalry (right flank, Sarmatian) wings were destroyed by the opposing infantry and victory went to the later Principates thanks to their earlier success on the left and their greater numbers.

Sorry but picked up one of the challenges, but only SOA opponents were allowed (didn't check), and my Catalans are from Eternal Empire. So I resigned, with a temp army.
