What Do you find in Dense Woods? – Death and Destruction

When looking at the battlefield the Seleucid General very nearly decided to find another site to fight as the Greek side had a large dense section of wood on their right flank attached to a generous side of rough. On their left were more woods and rough and some swamp in the middle with yet more rough ground. But after some thought an opportunity was seen to muster all the Medium foot in the Army and attempt to overwhelm the Greek right going through the dense woods.

Ultimately the plan worked, just... The Greeks did not expect the mass of Irregulars and Offensive Spearmen and while putting up a good delaying action they were overcome.

The Greeks came close to winning as they managed to flank the delaying force on the Seleucid right and orders for the pike blocks to go into square came too late, allowing a cascade of collapse to happen. Also some good rallies of Greek troops managed to sway the left flank fight and routed what was looking like a winning Seleucid force.

Ultimately the a victory was just snuck over the edge when an over eager Chariot came too close to a gaggle of archers and slingers who soon routed it. While the forces that had won the slow fight in the woods were able to pivot and reach the left flank to sway it back in favour of the Seleucid force.

A tough game and great opponent.

The Palmyrans did a good job of forcing the Byzantines into charging their lights to stop from being hit so much, and run right into their line. The Legios did poorly at first, but some units managed to get behind and hit the archers, while a few others got in a good flank or two. GG!
