Yup, I think that wouldn't be such a bad idea.

Ok, Jon...sounds like you got your answer...lol. Allies withdraw...German Win....
No worrys Alex...This was, and is a tough map...think of it as a scrimmage and getting a better understanding of how GJS works and plays...;)
We will Reinforce 6AL/6 and you can take another wack him later. :D
Thanks Jon for the communication on this, and for suggesting the future penalties for dissolved units.

Thanks Mike/Alex... I'll explain to Granfali, so that he can add to the GJS Rulebook... "If a German BG annihilates a British BG, killing all of its units on the map with no remaining units in its pool, then the normal dissolution penalty will be applied to the reinforcing units instead"... This will keep both sides honest as we begin to reinforce some of the BGs... Surrender accepted in BdB. I'll email Granfali our current KIAs... Like Mike says, don't worry too much... BdB is one of the toughest maps to win without armour... The result will likely be completely different when you have your Shermans!

Is 915/352 withdrawn or dissolved?
Thought Hermanville was a must win for us?
We should have slipped it back to Carpiquet airfield, darn it...

Nice tactics to win a dissolution without losing a single unit Gort, lol...
How many units did we just lose in the dissolution?
Oops!

Granfali and I started the game by getting our troops into position.
After about 10-12 turns,..we both must have been waiting for each other to attack.
After a few turns of this,..and with me having 2 flags and Granfali having 2 flags,...Granfali offered a ceasefire with me having 3 flags to his 2.
I questioned him on the fact that it would mean his dissolution he had no where to retreat.
He said that he understood that,...and on my turn I took the 3rd flag,....and agreed. Game Over.

Although I would have liked to have played on,....IMHO,..there was just no way he was going to cross any of the 3 bridges,...especially the middle one that held the critical 3rd flag.

Thanks for double checking that Granfali realised about the dissolution, Gort. It's sporting and appreciated. :-)

I think we goofed strategically. It was obvious that you would bring your armour forwards, so we were foolish to put an infantry division in your way. Holding 915/352 as a reserve in Carpiquet would have been the smarter move, so we deserve our dissolution penalty. :(

This will keep us on our toes for June 8th PM!!

Hehe, yeah you're right Mike... it's been a quieter round than usual...

Here's what I think is happening, from N to S...

Bayeux - 901/Lehr v 69/50 ME - Status unknown?
Thaon - I/22/21Pz v 231/50 ME - Status unknown?
Hermanville - 915/352 v 8/3C ME - Brits negotiated win, for no losses, with voluntary German dissolution (darn, that's a fine negotiator! )
Lebisey - II/22/21Pz v 8/3 ME - Started but it's only first turn
Colombelles - 125/21 attacks 3/6 - Last turn (we're trying to find the last two Brit units! :?)
BdB - 192/21Pz defends v 6AL/6 - Negotiated German win and voluntary Brit withdrawal (we got lucky but didn't want to be too mean, at least not first time out )

8AM Colombelles German Attack

GottaLove88s v Random27

Battle finished. German victory. 5/5 Flags and Map taken by German side. 3/6 Dissolved.

Casualties

Germans - 125/21Pz
1 Marder III
2 251/1
3 Infantry
1 MG42
2 Scouts

British - 3/6
7 Paras
1 6pdr ATG
2 Bren Carriers
1 Engineer
2 Piat
3 Mortar
2 Scouts

This was a MUCH tougher game than the stats suggest... Germans got quite a few lucky breaks... And Brits were unlucky when two mortars were suddenly revealed... Sneaky Brit 6-pdr zapped a 251/1 in revenge right after the fifth flag was taken...

Granfali wrote:

Added to the rulebook.
The Allied Annihilation Rule does not apply to the result in Colombelles for two reasons:

(i) 3/6 was not completely destroyed. The BG still had 2 units at the end of the game (including a sneaky 6pdr that zapped a 251/1).
(ii) Even if 3/6 had been completely destroyed on the map, the BG still had five more units in its pool (not on the map).

For Allied Annihilation, the German must destroy all of the Allied BG's units, before reinforcement, including all of the units on the map and all of the units in the pool... Neither of these conditions was satisfied during Colombelles.

Therefore, 3/6 is simply dissolved, to be reinforced and reintroduced as directed by the Allied Commander, General Mike

@Granfali,

Theoretical question: If I have to defend Bois de Bavent against 6/AL6 reinforced with Shermans, what's the composition of the reinforced BG? How many Shermans does it get? Does it get anything else after reinforcement?

Hmmm...possible problem here? :?

So if one single unit remains in the pool (which I'm guessing means not selected for battle), then a BG can never be completely defeated?

Seems like cheap insurance against an Allied annihilation that could be exploited?

Don't get it Jon...If you simpley won the map...How is the unit dissolved?? It still had units when game ended, and there was a place to retreat to...Wouldn't it just retreat to Pegasus??
I thought units only got dissolved if they were totally destroyed in the scenario, and or had no where to retreat to.
As far as the Sherman reinforcement question...Doesnt he get what the Reinforcement Pool shows?? 10 Shermans and 5 M5's....

Hey Mike, Good point. It's the five flag rule... Let me double check the latest GJS Rulebook to be sure this came through into v1.2... It was there in v1 and v1.1 so I'd assumed that it would stay in.
