Is there something lacking in my computer memory or something else like that?... or is it "STEAM?" that's causing the problem?. I don't have a 'Clue!'.

Do you have a graphics card or discrete GPU with more than 3 GB VRAM? IIRC some maps behave erratically or can fail to load entirely otherwise (Kursk or any other of the really large scenarios -- see
this thread).

I really didn't know where to look for the information you asked for, so I input my Computer Name, Model Number and so on... then used a search-engine and went to a Website to get the information below.

Its enough VRAM at 1.5gb to load all the campaign maps, but just 0.5GB short of the large scenario maps. I'd be surprised if you got 15fps from it. I'd expect maybe 11-12fps from that spec.
Since its a laptop i'd expect the GPU to be running flat out just to provide lag when you move the map around. Laptop GPUs dont tend to be well enough ventilated unless its a highend one for gaming.
My bet is on overheat lockup due to a combo of insufficent power to run anywhere near 30fps, and inadequate cooling. Laptops generally arnt designed to be thrashed at 100% for very long.

Thank-You!...
"fluffybunnyuk" for the desperately needed information!.
fluffybunnyuk quote:
"..."but just 0.5GB short of the large scenario maps".
[Ret:] "0.5GB short!" -

Yikes!!!...
"Death!"-"Scream!"-"Time!".
I needed to 'Know' that!.
~Regarding 'Frame-Rate'... Thankfully I have had 'no-issues-here!'.
Overheat-Lockup: Not even close to that... in the sense that the Computer is not generating any-heat when the Game-Crashes. I also have implemented several cooling-counter-measures. Such as...
(1.) I have a 'Cooling-Fan' underneath the "Lap-Top-Computer"... and as well I have the Computer spaced or separated away from its resting platform... thereby... enabling the maximum cooling of the Computer that I can possibly give it.
(2.) On top of the aforementioned... I also usually only play one round/turn at a time... so that I can then give the Computer a 2-3 minute break to cool-off just a little more... before I continue.
So!... i'm hoping that... that will suffice until I have alternatives.
So!... Thanks again
"fluffybunnyuk" for your volunteered help... it has been much appreciated!.
If something hasn't been mentioned here... I do welcome any other advice or necessary concerns to be mentioned... that I should be aware of.

There was no need to be sarcastic. You asked why your 11 year old laptop parts have a problem. I was merely trying to point out the demands of modern games on the GPU. As to the overheating , i wasnt talking about something blowing air on the table top. I was talking about the heatsink attached to the GPU, and whether it has sufficient cooling. Or whether it gets hot, and has a thermal 50% reduction by 1 pin signal. Its not unheard of. Dell laptops are especially well known for that feature as one easy example. How much air is blowing through the case can be irrelevant what matters is the temperature probe at the chip.
I've got an inspiron 15. Its a heap of junk, but its a modern laptop, and it plays the stated map just fine even if it does cut the power by 50% to the CPU after 5 mins.
I offered help, and you chose sarcasm. For that i'm slightly disappointed.

fluffybunnyuk! ... I think you somehow got it all wrong. I was not being sarcastic... I was on the other-hand appreciative for you shedding some light on this matter of mine. I was just trying to say 'Thank-You' for your concerned efforts.
I'm sorry that you got upset.

My apologies. Must be low blood sugar or something else going on

Forgive me while i get something decidedly unhealthy, but loaded with fat and sugar for dinner.
In the meantime i know my contribution wasnt much. I always try to help . I wish i had a concrete solution to offer, sadly i dont.

Rain in the desert doesn't seem to have any graphics that go with it.

SCW: the airplanes and tanks in the deployment panel are shown as blurred. That was not happening in the beta 1.1.03 version

The day after rain, recon planes still have spotting range of one instead of four.

In the second Malaga scenario there is a bug that is not rewarding prestige when capturing enemy town and airfields.

1. In Spanish Civil War DLC, hero Galland does not provide any bonus to the adjacent fighters. It does not show the leadership and aiming assistance trait on Galland's plane as it does on ground unit, and the adjacent unit is not improved even a bit.
2. Leadership does not work as described. I place it on my recon car. It only trigger before my recon car attack. After it uses up its attack points, it does not provide the bonus to adjacent units.

GOG version 1.1.4
Spanish Civil War DLC - "Early Madrid" Scenario
I'm offered the opportunity to spend 2 commendation points on a special tank project "Verdeja". However, do not receive a new unit and nothing new appears in the purchase screen for either the Germans or Spanish.
EDIT - ok this is not a bug, when you hover over the "Accept & spend 2 points" in TEENY TINY text it says "This unit will be available on turn 2." So this isn't a bug, just a REALLY POOR design choice in the UI (a) it's TINY b) you can easily click on the button before even noticing the hover text). Instead of having to hover over this, it should just say it at the end of the description.
PLEASE - Some folks have *really* bad eyesight... Please do a better job on text sizes for older gamers (and others who are visually impaired)!!!

Game crushes after all SCW missions are finished.
The hero trait legendary only generates 20 prestige per turn, but the description says 50.

Hmm - the ground defence values of the German wheeled armoured cars - variants on the 234 - are bonkers. Why some 18? As tough as a Sherman tank? Sorry - but that's ludicrous. The very fact they were wheeled speaks volumes, and the armoured protection was thin. I hadnt really noticed it before - but they make a very gamey style defence when backed by strong AT for a fraction of the cost of a tank and yet with visibility 3 and higher speed. Either those ground defence values should be lowered or the cost needs bumping way up.
As ever - my comments are from a pure multiplayer perspective.

In the SCW dlc there is a bug at the start of the Gijion (?) scenario; when present with the option to purchase commendation points with prestige, if you chose to accept, nothing happens and there is a small error message in red saying "script error: 107 bad argument". It shows up only briefly.

Minor visual (icon) bug: The trait icons for Famous and Legendary indicate that you get 10/20 prestige per turn, but the numbers were changed before releases. The mouseover text is correct but now is in conflict with the icons.

Playing with the Retrograde trait in SCW:
This means I start with no AA Artillery (and no Recon/AT + no Ftr/Strat).
Bug 1: If I capture AA Artillery (or AT), I can field it, but it cannot be given any transports. For example an enemy 20mm AA.
Bug 2: if I buy it (without transport) and deploy/move it to a supply hex, I can now upgrade it to add transportation.
Needless to say this makes zero sense.

Playing SCW (FM preview edition):
Bug: My AT and Artillery units do not provide support fire for Nationalist units (and yes, I know the difference between Soft/Hard support, so don't ask about that).

Shared visibility between allied factions bug (SCW):
When Republican troops capture a town belonging to Nationalists (ally), the Fog of War is immediately put over the area.
Here is an example from the 2nd scenario in SCW. My tank is parked next to the town, where there is now an invisible Republican unit.
In the same scenario, Nationalist units will run into mines I can see, proving that visibility sharing is buggy.

In the Brunete scenario of SCW, the attack order does not seem to work well. At one point, all enemy units near the Brunete VPs were eliminated and I went on the offensive to try to secure the secondary objectives. Of about 10 or so allied infantry that were not occupying my controlled VPs, only 3 went on the offensive given the order, all the rest just kept holding position and did nothing at all.

Can confirm this bug, the same thing happened to me.
