mcfcivo defeats tdefender at Issus 95% vs 100% 81/85 vs 88/80

Very close.....tdefender looked favourite for a while but as when I played the reverse game the severans seem to have the strength to nick it.

Hi Richard. Congratulations. I played the computer, yes the computer 5 times with the Callies. Lost 3 won 2, one win was by 1 bp. 2 games I lost I basically conceded, after a few turns as the battle markers had "evaporated" my foot in particular by the main line which then caused other disruptions etc. I know exactly what needs to be done but if the dice do not favour you then you have no chance. That should wrap up round 1 for you as the leader and by a hefty margin as well.

I think Londo is on another one of his infamous Centauri benders (long drinking session):)?

Otho lost both flanks, but won in the centre with the Praetorians - which seems to be the standard result. The final outcome was very even, but the Vitellians couldn't cover the extra 16 BP they needed to inflict to win.

Londo (Romans) 59/70 - fogman (Germans) 101/100

The Romans smashed the first line of Germans with little difficulty, which seemed to cause great dismay in the Wehrmacht High Command, going by fogman's early comments. But the Krauts formed a second line in the forest, and this fought well and inflicted heavy casualties on the Romans.

Round 12: The Fall of Parthia

The Arsacid dynasty that had ruled Iran for almost 500 years was under siege in the early 200’s. Its last kings had to deal with internal unrest, civil war, and foreign invasions in both the West and East. In 216-217 the Romans ravaged northern Mesopotamia unopposed until the Parthians were able to gather an army and checked them in a bloody battle at Nisibis, forcing a Roman withdrawal. But the strategic victory was only a respite before the Sasanian storm that came in 224. At Hormozgan, king Artavan V fell in battle and the Arsacid dynasty was swept away.

NISIBIS 217 AD

After the murder of Caracalla who had launched the war against the Parthians in 216, his successor Macrianus had to immediately deal with the arrival of the Parthian army at Nisibis. The result was a three-day battle in the oppressive heat of early summer. Against the disciplined Roman infantry, Parthian frontal assaults failed on the first two days. On the third, the Parthians attempted to overwhelm the Romans on both flanks.

The Sasanians had carefully built up their power in south west Iran before openly challenging their Parthian overlords. King Artavan V, who had himself successfully rebelled against his brother Vologases, led the Parthian army into the plain of Hormozgan where the pretender Ardashir was awaiting him. The Parthians had strength in numbers but the Sasanians had secured the water sources and were fresher.

This one finished a while ago, but I recall that mcfcivo had atrocious luck throughout. There was no fighting in the forest, because the Germans held the Wall for almost the entire battle. The Romans only broke through on one side, at the very end. (What they really needed was an undead ice dragon!)*

you’re due to play him next round.

OK but playing Londo again, playing TDefender means I will have played all opponents in first 2 rounds and then back to the norm. So it means I could play the same 5 or 6 players all of the time, rather than 8? Fogman think of my heart:) BTW I am enjoying it and now understanding your interpretations of what actually happened (allegedly) in the battle and or to arm/train troops accordingly to a truly historical battle.

It becomes harsh for Dacia when the Legionaries and Praetorians finally get into action. Makes you wonder why the Romans aren't leading with the heavy infantry, instead of asking Auxilia to stand up to Sarmatian lancers in the open!
