It's fairly well hidden :)

"Challenges
As mentioned above, I will publish the challenges giving details of Region, players and armies involved. Challenges should be Open Battle, Medium Force and Medium Map."

But you are absolutely correct, medium maps from now on.

Oops. :( Let's hope I'm better at spotting terrain features! Thanks.

Wasn't Bohemoth the particularly slow Hauteville boy that wasn't allowed to go on crusade? :)

In my game against Shawkhan2 in the Mid-West, I assume I have to set the Force Points in the Advanced tab as I have some bonus points? What's the default points for a Medium battle? I assume I will then add 100 to my number of Force Points?

I believe that the default is 1200 and that the system only allows you to change in increments of 100. So yes, increase your points by 100 from the default and off you go :)

Isn't it also a reinforcement battle not an open one as the points are being used away from their source region? Likewise for the challenge in the South.

Reinforcement battle - late query?

In setting up a reinforcement (own) battle for "away" points, I hope we are not disadvantaging the reinforcing side by forcing the latter to fight against superior numbers until the reinforcements show up. Only it just occurred to me that the reinforcing group may well exceed the 100 points we are adding - thus leaving the main body at a numerical disadvantage for a time. If this was the case it might be better to treat it as an open battle with the points added in for the bonus points side.

With my adjudication hat on, I would say that you try reinforcement on the understanding that if you are poked, you can restart as open +100.

I have just tried setting one up for medium armies and without adjusting any points - the advanced is showing mine as 1200 points and the enemy as 1080 points. So maybe the reinforcing component there is the 120 differential. Even better if the system just treats any points difference as the reinforcement force. In the only reinforcement game I can recall playing (accepted challenge by mistake) there were only two reinforcements - a small cavalry and one infantry units. So hopefully I have raised a false alarm.

IIRC the side awaiting reinforcement gets more points automatically, but the reinforcements may be more or less than that difference. (The reinforcements being deducted from the overall points, the rest of the overall points being deployed at the start).

It does look as though armies with 100 bonus can simply set up a reinforcements battle without adjusting the points, and they will get 120 more points than their opponent overall.

I got the same default points as Ironclad, 1200/1080. When adjusting the 1080 points I got 1180, 1280, etc. But it is possible to decrease down to 100, then you can increase the number of points to 1100, 1200 etc. But if you change any sides number of points to 1300 the map size changes to wide and you have to set the width manually to 32.
