It's time I declared a Modding War on Battlefield Europe! Prepare to face my newest creations: The Path to Rearmament (
viewtopic.php?f=147&t=49355), and Grand Campaign '14 (WWI thread!).
The way to win is to have more things better about your mod.
Currently I have:
1936 Start
Morale
Intelligence Reports
Industrial Units
Zeppelins! (Yes, those odd recon bombers are coming to a WW2 mod!)
- BNC (Now, convince my stormtroopers - if you can!)

Dear god.... I imagine McGuba is going to have to get down and dirty with this one.... Perhaps he could take the fight to WW1 with an Entente Campaign, or an Ottoman Campaign form 1912-1918.... (I assume for giving these ideas to him, Stormtroopers are mobilizing to invade my home)

They won't invade you if you keep working for me (Liege 14 will be ready soon) - but they will invade his house if he steals ANYTHING from my WWI mod(s - GC14

This is a serious challenge and currently I really do not know how to counter the threat posed by your latest creations. Maybe if I introduced even more Zeppelins to the Battlefield: Europe WWII mod than you... But, I think it is too late now. Or maybe if it started in 1935, only to beat your idea by one year... Ah, decisions, decisions, decisions... I think I will just leave it as it is...

The Path to Rearmament's tutorial starts in 1935 - I have already beaten that idea! Maybe you should start work on Battlefield Europe 2.0 (or not - you might annoy the stormtroopers)

Germany had no army at all then (except for the 100,000 men permitted by Versailles)
+, too early for anything interesting to happen - just end turn, end turn, end turn for ages!

Mod wars! Awesome. Makes the game better so all the players win.
Bit of a sub update: So I added Mac's suggestions, (very good ones BTW), plus new custom sounds for the deck and flak guns. (Also added deck gun animation and stripped deep attack sounds as they were redundant). Oh, and I think the blank icon is growing on me.
Then I got sidetracked by another mod I'm working on.

But I hope to be back in full blown testing mode soon.

I noticed that the German spheric flag you're using is from my earliest batch I uploaded way back. It very different and outdated compared to the rest of the flags.
Besides, I've improved the style overall:

Left: Improved version
Right: Previous version
I thought about updating the flags overall. There are some purchase flags and vanilla overlay flags that has the same problem.

Well, as Orwell wrote in Nineteen Eighty-Four 'WAR IS PEACE' which makes me believe that this supposed mod war, if it ever happens, would only serve the greater good of peaceful life on this planet. However, he also stated in the same book that 'IGNORANCE IS STRENGHT', so I may just ignore this challenge... And just as 'FREEDOM IS SLAVERY' I intend to hold the right to decide freely what other things to add to this mod in any possible later updates, regardless of any other supposedly competitive mods.
Which brings us to our next point:

I am seriously planning to add these multipurpose U-boats so please keep us informed about your progress and post those sounds and anims as soon as you feel they are ready.
P.S. the Big Brother is watching!

Ah, OK, thanks, these will be added as well. Are there any more, or only these ones? If there are more it would help a lot if you could upload the updated image files so that I can change them.

Until you start thinking about what my stormtroopers might do - they don't care about random quotes!

Well, that's the main problem with stormtroopers - they do not seem to care about anything. They only do one thing: storm...
By the way, how about making an Imperial Stormtooper campaign in the Star Wars universe?
'Luke, I am your father!'

More like "Luke, I am your father, but now I must kill you, just because I have nothing better to do". And the stormtroopers do care about some stuff - like The Path to Rearmament and GC 14 winning the mod war!

Lots of good oxymorons there, which with a name like iceFlame, is right up my alley.

But seriously, landmark book filled with lots of contradictions in terms which stimulates thought. Classic.

Awesome! I'll look forward to some deep dives in a future update.
Might not be ready for a bit as it's getting sunny here. Between that and real life heating up there's less time available for the foreseeable future. But I do plan to get there.

Alright, I've gathered all updated spheric flags, purchase flags and overlay:
https://www.mediafire.com/?w8b6frdm7lss4j8
Some flags like the Irish, Czech and Croatian looked a bit messy. So I made sure all the flags in the overlay had the same quality:

No offence, they just seemed a bit out of place to me, compared to the other flags.

McGuba have you ever thought of changing the start date to another period of the war, I for one would like to see a January 1943 start because
In North Africa, Axis forces are in danger of being expelled completely from the continent
In the East, a massive German army has been trapped on Stalingrad, and have a chance to break out
In the Atlantic, new technology is making the U-boat take increased losses, and air Supremacy is slowly returning to the Allies, with constant bombing runs on German industry, and the West is preparing to return to France....
So much is at stake! The Players only have the resources for ONE front.
Aim for a decisive victory against the Russians in the East, and face an Italian Surrender in the West or make sure the Western allies stay out of Europe and retake the initiative in Africa!, giving the Russians the chance they need to expel the Germans from Russia!
Plus new technology on both sides makes he war much more.... Interesting

THIS IS A WARNING FROM THE STORMTROOPERS' HQ:
DO NOT START THE MOD IN 1936 - THE STORMTROOPERS WILL CONSIDER IT A PERSONAL THREAT TO BOTH THEM AND "THE PATH TO REARMAMENT" IF YOU DO
Don't mess with them... (They have the latest in cruise-missile-firing-A7Vs

)

But it is also good if there was long time no rain - the farming needs water.

Except if they are making sandstorms...

No problem, you are the expert, after all.

Actually, the scenario that you described is a very possible one: if one starts in 1941 and plays in the historical way chances are high that something very similar should be the situation in early 1943, around turn 40-45. But, I understand the idea, that is to have a 'Defend the Fatherland' scenario start position which would make an interesting defensive game play from the start. However, it is not so easy to implement it now, as it would mean a nearly complete rework of the scenario, which would certainly take some time. And why to do it, if one can get there anyway if played historically?
Aim for a decisive victory against the Russians in the East, and face an Italian Surrender in the West or make sure the Western allies stay out of Europe and retake the initiative in Africa!, giving the Russians the chance they need to expel the Germans from Russia!
These options are all well modeled currently, I guess.
Plus new technology on both sides makes he war much more.... Interesting!
Just as this one.

I think it is high time for those stromtroopers to learn some manners. It is considered a bit unfriendly to 'shout' and threaten others in a forum. Especially with cruise missile firing A7V tanks, which I reckon must have to be a terrible weapon system with unseen long-term effect on health.
As for the idea, I think it would be great to change the vanilla tutorial scenario to a 1936 Spain one - after all it was the Wehrmacht's dress rehearsal for WWII. The only problem is that in order to make it right I would need to create a bunch of new Spanish icons for which I have no time now. Not to mention the necessary research and stuff.

So, those stormtroopers can take it easy as it will not going to happen for a while for sure. If it ever happens at all...
