Now, some "hardware", an answer to McGuba suggestion: An up-armored Panzer II C. As he said, it is difficult to make the up-armoring detail visible, but without over-doing it. Here is my attempt at it, taking as a base the Pz II Ausf.C icon made by AK Rebel, and re-touched some details (roadwheels, toned down insignia).
Also according to the "Encyclopedia of German tanks of WWII" book, another improvement made to Panzer II tanks after the campaign in France was the addition of a commanders cupola, which improved the vision from inside the turret compared to the flush hatch that was originally present atop the turret (which is correctly depicted in AKRebel's icon).
So, another, more visible visual identification clue to tell apart modernized/improved Pz II Ausf. c, A, B and C from the original models is the presence if that cupola besides the tiny extra armor plates on the front turret and hull. I, for one, in game I would call Pz II Ausf.B the original variant(s) and Pz II Ausf.C for the improved variant (just a suggestion).
I hope you like it!

The comment of Don Guille, is a constructive criticism, we are also here to collaborate and support each other, make the most of the best of each one. (I am using translator if I have errors).

It is difficult to play with the Panzer II with the original values, with 2 soft attack and 4 strong attack points and to that you can see that it only has 6 defense, it is not very productive in 1940 against the French tanks and it gets worse in 1941.

Hello McGuba
it is indeed very difficult to represent such tiny nuances in the pixel depth, yet I have tried this challenge as guille1434. The result is the following and I hope you like it ...

As you can see on the following photo from Wikipedia, the armor on the gun mantlet is not completely continuous, this was tried in my account to consider.
I will update the post "
Panzerkampfwagen II Ausf. C (Pz.Kpfw. II)" regarding this unit.

If you miss any more units in the row, I would ask you to contact me in this post and I will try to reconstruct the unit. Many Thanks

Hello AK:
Thanks (again) for your continued effort in making the new icons uploaded...
About the up-armored Pz II C, I like very much the detail you included in your last version of that icon: the upper part of the front turret added armor plate (which I dutifully "borrowed"). Another way to further differentiate the up-armored version from the regular one, may be the absence of the spare road wheel stored on the glacis plate... The vanilla game icon (for the rergular version of this tank) show one spare wheel stored on its glacis plate, but all the photos I could see of the upgraded version lack that fitting (may be that was because to add the reinforcement armor on the glacis, it was necessary to cut off the fittings for the spare wheel, see the photo uploaded by McGuba). So, here is a new version of that vehicle icon without the spare wheel, as a new visual clue to differentiate both versions...

Haha,guys, you are absolutely fantastic!
I believe a few decades later, when someone looks back at these topics, will be surprised how fanatics we all were, as we are able to spend so much time and effort with so tiny details. But yes, we are all perfectionists, and we are of course proud of it!
So thanks for your collective efforts, and I think I will go for this last one.
As for the naming, with this and any similar units which received an upgrade without getting a new name or suffix, I just usually add
(late model) to the full name of the unit so in this case it is like "Panzer II Ausf. C (late model)". But of course there can be other solutions as well.
