A close game. I made a crucial error initially and was soon losing 3-17 but managed to claw my way back with some fortunate combats!! Thanks Cedric for a great game! I think the reverse game will be equally tough!

In 1697 we Danes managed to repel a Swedish Invasion of our beloved motherland.

Our dogged pike and shot withstood the Swedish foot and their silly salvo fire tactics, but the Swedish cavalry showed a great desire for our superior pickled herrings and swept all before them.

Awesum4 Danes lost 59% so 6.3 points while Jomni Swedes lost 62% to gain 5.9 points. A very exciting game that could have gone either way.

While in my other less historically plausible battle my 1691 Imperial Austrians defeated Shawkhan2 using Irish Jacobites. Our overwhelming firepower weakened him before contact and we then swept him gloriously from the field, obviously the long march from Dublin to Vienna had tired his men and horses.

Awesum4 lost 39% and gained 8.4 points whilst Shawkhan2 lost 63% to gain 3.9%

Hopefully this is right Rex ? Win for GG D = Rex Imperialist 44% GG D German 12% ( Rex 12/10 = 1.2, GGD 44-12 = 32. 32/10 = 3.2 + 6 = 9.2)

Breaking News from the front Another stunning GG D charge by German horse supported by musketeers put the Imperialist horse and supporting infantry to flight in a lightening attack.

The Germans were heard singing... "On Prancer, on Dancer... and the wind in their wigs and whinnying whistles warned of the coming doom and damnation dancing on the imp's shoulders!"

Your Turn Rex :lol:

Box 2 results:

SnuggleBunnies (German States 89-98): 10%
Cromlechi (Russian 95-98): 41%

So...

SnuggleBunnies: 9.1
Cromlechi: 1

Is that correct?

I think someone should look at the Auto settings for this game.
I am currently fighting a hopeless battle as the Imperial Austrians against the Jacobite-Irish.
Their army is 22158 men vs my 13768 men
They have 23! P&S vs my 6P&S, along with 6 musketeers.
Their cavalry is as large as mine and includes armored/Determined horse whereas I have none.

This battle was totally hopeless from the start and on a mostly open battlefield is not worth fighting except we are in a tournament.

Something is broken here. The Jacobite-Irish with an army like this? Something is wrong with the Auto selection.

Bonnie Prince Charles would certainly have established his own English dynasty with an army like this.

Bonnie Prince Charlie's army consisted of Scottish Highlanders over 50 years later. The results people are having with Jacobite Scots demonstrate why he did not re-establish the Stuart dynasty.

James II's Irish army was a lot more conventional, and though outmatched by William III's army was not that bad an army. (Albeit I am finding it a struggle to achieve anything with it).

It's not an easy fight versus the monster Jacobite Irish. I just finished a battle with Imperial Austrian vs JI fought in the open and lost 50-60...

Box 4 results:

youngr (Russians 1662-1694) 25% routed
winning draw vs
rbodleyscott (Jacobite Irish 1689-1691) 27% routed

youngr = 2.7
rbodleyscott = 2.5

A cautious start by both sides. The Russians looked as if they might well be overwhelmed but held on with a few fortunate flank attacks when the Irish weren't looking :D

Cheers
Richard

I feel your pain on reinforcements, rex. I just had enemy troops show up on my flank and attack in the same turn, instantly throwing my whole army into chaos and routing 9% of it before i had any knowledge of reinforcements being involved.

My 2nd game against Shakhan2, the one he mentioned above.

my 1691 Irish Jacobite lost 0% 10.6 points, his Imperial 1689 Austrians lost 46% so 0 points. Terrain played no part. My impact pistol cavalry went into his carbine cavalry without taking any real shooting on the way in and smashed them to pieces. My average pike and shot were in traditional checkerboard formation with raw pike and shot shooting through the gaps and just blew his foot apart.
