I still think 4 points for Swedish Brigade is FAR too much...

Umm... I don't think the 4 points is particularly justified anymore, but you're the first person I've seen who'd classify the Later Tercios as a better buy. Certainly the competition scene doesn't seem to agree.

Your understanding is right, I believe. The wording on the POA is Battle troops who "have any file of their battle group in 3 or more ranks (unless this is the 3 deep pike file of a Swedish Brigade Formation)". Oh, and Tercios get it even if none of their files have 3 stands left.
I think part of the problem is the WRG/DBR derived bases we have make it impossible to represent the actual position of the pikes with only 7 stands of troops.

I agree, unless they change back to the original proposal counting Swedish brigades as armoured for shooting to the front, as suggested by yourself in another thread.

Coming from N. Ireland, we don't play many competitions over here - almost all of our games are historical refights or friendlies. But I believe that in the competition scene in the mainland UK, you don't see many Swedish brigades or LTs as they are too expensive for the frontage covered.

The Swedes are used a reasonable amount in TYW themed tournaments. Later Tercios are much rarer and tend to only appear if the theme is very tight and forces them.

And how well do Swedes perform in themed 30YW tournaments?
I can see why later tercios are not popular. They cost 50% more than a normal 2/4 pike and shot BG, so later armies will be able to cover more table or spend the points saved on other troops, making 2/4 units a logical better choice, reflecting historical progress. This is the thing I really like about Fog-R - it reflects the benefits of new technology quite subtly but effectively.

I've had a quick look through the results where i have details of armies used.
We had a TYW/ECW pool at Derby last year (in 25mm) which was won by Early TYW Swedes. In fact, Swedes seem quite effective in 25mm, having been 1st in 2014 and 3rd in 2016 in the open 25mm competition at Roll Call.
I managed to submarine my way to 2nd place at last year's BHGS Challenge (a 1600-1629 period) using Early Gustavan Swedish which is very similar.
