unless we are changing the skirmish bow ranges back to V1
Which may be worth exploring...

But what we really need is more testing and AARs,

HF are only going to get to double move once in the current proposal w a half competent opponent.

LF Skirmishes start at 18" and end up at 23" in w a full move. HF start at 12" and get an 8" move in the first move w a general so they are now 20" in. The HF and LF are now only 5" apart on a 4' table.

My point is that restricting HF moves to 4MU when outside 6MU/4MU they'd only get to move 4MU in the first move - so with the double move their only benefit over V2 is an extra 2" in the first move. After that they're back to moving 3MU in every move = so the difference between this and V2 is minimal.
Moving at 3MU from turn 2 onward would take another 9 moves to reach the enemy camp - 10 moves to the enemy table edge. Allowing HF to move at 4MU reduces this by 3 moves.

I see your point Terry, what about giving them a VMD 4
They move quickly outside of 6 mu with 4 mu
3mu inside of 6 ( including charging unless all opponents evade or rout, then VMD 4 mu ) that then doesn't stuff up shooting ranges

Overall, the proposed changes create exceptions and change the fundamentals... What makes the rule more complex and therefore less accessible.

Apart from that, is it reasonable to make HF, good Cav and LF hunters ...
