Regretfully, we can't get the pub that day either, so, at this point in time, there won't be a Southern League round in London.

And I even painted up some trophies!

That's the Clevedon, London and Southampton rounds all cancelled this year. We had Oxford in April; when/where is the fifth, is it Milton Keynes?

Milton Keynes can be done.
Don and I will have to get it sorted then...

All,

Here is a thought - as many of you will know we have 18 October available for an event at the Oxford Club. We were planning a reprise of the successful FOGAM/R 25mm day but we could instead hold a second Oxford Southern League round to fill in the gap created by loss of Central London and Southampton.

Any thoughts on that? if liked, what period - the proposed one from Central London, something else?

For future years we could run two Southern League events as a matter of course if that was wanted.

views please.

Tom

Sounds great, does make Oct/Nov a bit crowded with events!
Derby Early Oct
Doubles Late Oct
Warfare mid Nov
Conflict 5th Dec
MKWS one dayer (Don and I are busy working on that). :)

Best save up some brownie points! :D

This year in October only because we have the Hall already booked. In future years we would look for a date in a less crowded month.

I know, and I'm desperate to attend as I'm only in Bedfordshire, just wondering if I can get clearance from SWMBO...
I hope so.
I don't mind what theme, as I will be last anyway! :)

Nigel,

I think Tom was proposing 15mm figures. For those who can not remember the themes for London and Southampton were: -

Southampton - Early 16th century Europe, Date 1494-1555 - Lists Maximillian Imperial, Italian wars French, Trastamara Spanish, Italian States, Italian wars Venetian,
German States, Early Henrican English, Later Henrican English, Scottish, Border Reivers, Irish, Anglo Irish, Peasant Wars (Not Hungarian), Caroline Imperialists (Not in Africa),

central London (this year) - Rise of Gustavus Adophus - Lists Later 80 Years War Dutch, Later Imperial Spanish. Early 17th Century French, 30 Years War Dutch, Early 30 Years German Catholic, Early 30 Years German Protestant, Later 30 Years Germans, Early Swedish, Later Swedish, 30 Years War French, Hungarian-Transvanian, 30 Years War Peninsular Spanish, Early Restoration Portuguese, Early Gustavan Swedish

Will,
There are lots of things that SWMBO can do in Oxford while your playing. There are the museums. If she does not like museums she can drive to Bicester Village (http://www.bicestervillage.com/) or Blenheim Palace.

Lol!
Small issues of:
A) Doubles the next weekend. That's already booked and what with Derby it might be considered 'taking the p*ss'!
2) Small, cute, hyperactivitly destructive three year old
iii) people who don't fin..

All,

As Bob says, I had in mind the standard 15mm approach.

Hi Tom

don't forget to check numbers as we already have an ancients competition at the club that weekend, we would just have to check numbers fairly regularly

cheers

Alasdair,

Yes. We shall have to get our heads together and figure out how much space we have available.

Sadly I don't think I can make a second event in October, much as I'd like to. Particularly annoying as I'd painted the army specifically for it. :(

Sorry guys, it's too close to other events, I just got the steely glare of doom from the long suffering Mrs Lemmey.
Sorry, I'm not going to make this one.

All,

thanks for these messages; could we have a count please of those who can come rather than those who cannot? Then we can see if there is appetite for a special round of the Southern league on 18th October or if I should go back to the original plan of a rerun of the 25mm FOGAM/R?

thanks all
