I don't think your remark is particularly helpful or fair. If you had taken the trouble to check all the recent posts on this part of the forum you would have seen this from Dan . . .

I am sorry, I had not checked, I was probably venting my twin's fever. I am editing my post in remorse, if you want to see it, please check Pete's quote.

Hello guys,

Last night I've made a new thread FoG(U) Update. And a new open beta build also here [BLD] Latest Release - v2.0.03.989 GC3, which is the last open beta build, the next build coming towards the end of this week, and being the release candidate build. Please read the update, and try the new build.

Also, I'm sorry for this way too looong development period, with its down and ups. There's a limit of what can one do, no matter how hard he tries (you don't know half of it, and believe me I did my very best).

This build should have been ready a couple of weeks ago if unforeseen things wouldn't have intervened (one free week planned half a year ago for an after-the-release period in April (which proved to be , yet again, far too optimistic!) I couldn't delay without being killed by my family (and that would have stopped development for good!) and another week with a couple of days for Easter and another 5 spent in bed due to a very bad bronchitis). This is my personal fault, and please accept my apologies for it.

Hi,

this is good news. I look forward to the release. I did consider joining the beta, but it seemed better to let Slitherine package the release for me.

Please note, if I have been critical, it has been frustration at the lack of news. It is clear to me that software development is difficult, complicated, and often subject to unforeseen circumstances. Sure, I did say from time to to time - just release it and fix the bugs later. However, this was a rather uninformed thought, and I strongly suspect you know better.

June 1st, and besides cothyso's heroic plucking away instead of sleeping I have to say I lost a bit of respect for Slitherine/Matrix as a publisher over this.... 6 months and not a beep from their communications team.

Sir, are you comparing Slitherine to an emasculated bovine??

He's rather comparing me with it, and you know what he's almost right :)

You can not fault Slitherine for wanting a final release build before making the release announcement and preparations, guys. And this is exactly what I'm doing: last minutes GUI polishing and optimizations, and we'll have another build before before the end of this week. After that, Slitherine will probably make the PC version release announcement.

Two weeks on, an update and/or status report would be nice.

Hello guys,

The (GUI) polishing is almost done (the dev codebase is at revision 999 right now) and FoG(U) build v2.1.00.999 release version will be ready at most on next Monday. Slitherine would announce the publishing date later on.

it took forever, but it's finally done!

Thank you all for your endless patience and support,
dan

the 'almost' is the scary part.

cothyso wrote:Hello guys,

A new FoG(U) v2.1.01.1002 GC4a build containing all the requested minor GUI changes was sent for evaluation on 13th July Monday morning. I've also sent two beta mod builder versions (one on Monday morning, together with the release build, and another one yesterday evening) to modders. As soon as we'll get feedback from Slitherine regarding the release build, I'll let you know.

Cheers,
dan
The latest v2.1.01.1002 GC4a release build was sent for review to Slitherine on 13th July (and another small update v2.1.01.1004wip GC4a with some more Editor work was also sent to Slitherine for review on 16th July). We haven't got any feedback yet. As I've told you, as soon as Slitherine finishes reviewing the build and send us some feedback, I'll let you guys know.
