In a period of a week I have had emails from Amazon saying not until June then not until May. Immortal Fire was delivered today. The Amazon process is apparently not very reliable or their software set up is a bit dodgy. Perhaps it is not designed for this type of release where the demand pattern is difficult to gauge. No doubt they could gauge how many people wanted the latest Harry Potter book but how could they know what Field of Glory demand would be.

Or of course all of the relevant publishers, printers, suppliers etc could just deliver the product to the customer on the published date in which case I doubt so much would be said.....
But let's be reasonable

I don't think we should beat up Slitherine for what was Amazons mistake. Those of us who ordered from Amazon will have done so because either
We don't have a LGS (or the LGS won't Stock it), or
because of the discouint Amazon was offering.
The discount drove the demand up and Amazon had not fully understood the implications.
If they had offerred the lists at list price they wouldn't have had the problem.
If demand outstrips supply the price is set too low. The company loses revenue, customers are disappointed and the second hand/as new market picks up the sale.

I still cherish my email which says that my IF has been 'dispatched today' - 14th Feb !
*sighs*
Alan.

				Greetings
There was quite a lot of stock of Immortal Fire at Salute. I picked up a copy having not got round to ordering via Amazon.
I also saw pre-release copies (at the Osprey stand) of Swords and Scimitars and Legions Triumphant). The latter interests me more than the former.
Regards

Exactly.

People need to chill out.

This is ridiculous. Yes I want it now. Yes I want it as soon as I can get it. But the temper tantrums are remarkable.
It does under score a use ful point. Slitherine should have draft lists made available on the website for say 5-10 lists from the late 2008 and 2009 releases. The can be asterisked as not final and leave out a few secret lists, but it would be helpful to keep interest up among thos who say care about the chariot period or asian area.

Alternatively, those who are interested in "listless" periods could use their knowlege, convert existing lists from other game systems, or (god forbid!) do some research and come up with a reasonable idea of what the lists ought to be.

Hi Iain,
Any idea when your stock will arrive and the Slitherine mail order copies will be sent out?
Thanks,

I live in the Midwest, OHio, and recieved an email that this has been shipped from Amazon. If it falls like the last one I should have it by Wedensday.
This means I will have to get more serious on the Imperial Alexandrian for Origins.

<BRIAN>
And by rules I mean the latest for Greek and Macedon.

Iain, the Slitherine store is still showing the status as "Paid For" rather than despatched and I have not received an email telling me the books are on the way. Is the Store status still to be updated? Thanks! Edward

There was a glitch in the store we were trying to fix. I think it's sorted so I'll get it updated. The orders have definitely been dispatched though.
